IAPMO’s SCB Earns ISO 13485 Accreditation
SCB (Systems Certification Body), part of The IAPMO Group, has been accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to a new scope, ISO 13485:2016, Medical Devices — Quality Management Systems, a significant milestone for the certification body.

ISO 13485 is a stand-alone QMS standard derived from the internationally recognized and accepted ISO 9000 quality management standard series. ISO 13485 adapts the ISO 9000 process-based model for a regulated medical devices manufacturing environment. Companies gaining ISO 13485 compliance demonstrate an established and maintained effectiveness of their process, while ensuring the consistent design, development, production, installation and delivery of medical devices that are safe for their intended purposes.
Unveiling Horizons: The Trailblazing Baja Aerospace and Electronics Trade Mission
The Baja Aerospace and Electronics Trade Mission was an event organized to promote trade and investment opportunities between the United States and Baja California, Mexico. The trade mission was attended by business leaders, government officials, and industry experts from both countries.

During the trade mission, participants engaged in networking events, business meetings, and site visits to aerospace and electronics companies in Baja California. The goal of these activities was to foster partnerships and collaborations between companies in both regions.

The trade mission also provided a platform for participants to learn about the latest technological advancements and innovations in the aerospace and electronics industries. This knowledge exchange was aimed at promoting growth and development in these sectors.
IAPMO SCB is dedicated to empowering our clients and helping them thrive in their industries. We at SCB make it our priority to do what we can to help contribute to our clients’ success. We work with strategic partners including the California Inland Empire District Export Council (CIEDEC), the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, the Baja Aerospace Cluster and the U.S. Commercial Service to create events such as the Baja Trade Mission to help our clients expand their reach globally.

Overall, the Baja Aerospace and Electronics Trade Mission was a successful event that brought together key players in the aerospace and electronics industries to explore new business opportunities and strengthen existing relationships.

We at IAPMO SCB would like to extend our appreciation to the CIEDEC, the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, the Baja Aerospace Cluster, the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, the U.S. Commercial Service, EMG Exporting Strategies, Alliance Buyers Group, Grupo Logix, and Associacion de Industriales de la Mesa de Otay (AIMO), which made this event possible. Special thanks to Parker Hannifin Aero, TPV, Safran Aerospace, Stryker Pacifico and ICON Aircraft for opening their facilities to us and giving us a tour of their state-of-the-art plants.
Canada's C$350 Million Investment Bolsters Sustainable Aerospace Industry
Canada has recently made a significant commitment to the sustainable aerospace industry, as the government announces a groundbreaking investment of C$350 million. This strategic funding aims to accelerate the growth and development of environmentally conscious initiatives within the country's aerospace sector. With sustainability becoming an increasingly critical focus globally, Canada's investment demonstrates its dedication to fostering innovation and reducing the industry's environmental footprint.

What is Sustainable Aerospace?
Sustainable aerospace encompasses a range of practices and technologies that aim to reduce the environmental impact of the aviation industry while ensuring its long-term viability. It involves minimizing carbon emissions, reducing noise pollution, conserving resources, and promoting social responsibility. The core principles of sustainable aerospace include:
a)    Carbon Footprint Reduction
b)    Noise Reduction
c)    Resource Conservation
d)    Social Responsibility

What does this mean for Canada’s Aerospace industry?
This funding will propel the industry's evolution towards greener and more sustainable practices, positioning Canada as a global leader in sustainable aerospace. This investment underscores Canada's commitment to building a future-focused aerospace industry that prioritizes environmental stewardship and competitiveness in the global market. This investment will mean Canada will be:
1.    Driving Research and Development
2.    Promoting Green Technologies
3.    Enhancing Infrastructure and Manufacturing Capabilities
4.    Supporting Collaboration and Partnerships
5.    Job Creation and Economic Growth

As the sustainable aerospace industry expands, new employment opportunities will emerge, ranging from research and development roles to manufacturing and supply chain positions. Furthermore, increased investment in the aerospace sector will contribute to the growth of related industries, such as advanced materials, clean energy, and aviation services.

What this means for U.S. Aerospace Manufactures
Canada's substantial investment will have implications for U.S. aerospace manufacturers as well. The investment in Canada's sustainable aerospace industry could present both challenges and opportunities for U.S. aerospace manufacturers. On one hand, the increased focus on sustainable practices and technologies in Canada may create a demand for greener aerospace components, materials, and technologies. This could open new business opportunities for U.S. manufacturers that specialize in sustainable aerospace solutions. On the other hand, if U.S. manufacturers do not keep pace with the advancements in sustainable aerospace, they may face challenges in competing with Canadian counterparts in certain markets. To remain competitive, U.S. aerospace manufacturers may need to prioritize research and development efforts in sustainable technologies, collaborate with Canadian partners, and align their production processes with environmentally conscious practices. The evolving landscape of sustainable aerospace presents an opportunity for U.S. manufacturers to innovate, adapt, and participate in the global shift towards greener aviation.
