Committee Spotlight

Have you heard about AVNC's Equine Advisory Committee? Atwater Village is blessed to have a rare Equestrian District. The Equine Committee is committee to protecting, preserving and enhancing it.

What has this committee done in the past?

  • Planned and held Open Houses to highlight the facilities in the Equestrian District
  • Provided support to Taking the Reigns and The Children's Ranch, non-profit organizations using horses and located within the Atwater Village Equestrian District

You can get involved! Attend a committee meeting (sign up for alerts at bit.ly/AVNCagendas) or attend a future equestrian event!
Deadline to Apply, Sunday Nov. 7th
The submission window is open for the largest Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program in America. The City of LA will be picking 3,000 applicants at random to receive $1,000/month for one year. If you're eligible, you can apply today through November 7th at www.BIGLEAP.lacity.org.

LA Tenants Union
The Northeast Local Chapter of the LA Tenants Union hosts weekly outdoor Tenant Solidarity meetings in Atwater and nearby Crypress Park.

You can attend:
Tuesdays at 6:30pm at 3356 Glenhurst Ave in Atwater
Thursdays at 7:00pm at 913 Cypress Ave in Cypress Park
Hat and Hoodie Drive Nov. 8 - Nov. 19
Help make a difference in our community by donating new or recently washed knit hats (aka beanies) and hooded sweatshirts in adult size M-XXL. Boxes for dropping the hats and/or sweatshirts will be at the drop-off locations at Atwater Ave or Glenfeliz Elementary.
All donations will be given to SELAH.
The City of Angeles COVID-19 Memorial
COVID-19 showed us that communities across Los Angeles are united — in a city as vast as ours we still found ways to step up and support each other. The Mayor’s City of LA COVID-19 memorial will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 through November 20, 2021.  READ MORE

Tenant Anti-Harassment & Fair Housing Anti-Discrimination Laws

Join the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) at one of our scheduled webinars as we discuss the City of Los Angeles’ Tenant Anti-Harassment Ordinance and fair housing laws that protect renters from housing discrimination. This workshop will be held in collaboration with the Housing Rights Center (HRC). The presentation will cover the rights of families with children, immigrant tenants, Section 8 voucher holders, people with disabilities, and other protections under State and Federal laws. HRC is the nation’s largest fair housing organization, supporting victims of housing discrimination throughout Los Angeles County. READ MORE
