Climate Control Update
Dr. Lussier shared with Central Council that WPS and FMD will present to the Advisory Committee on Wednesday, 2/26, 6:30 p.m. (Tolles Parsons Center, Schuler Multipurpose Room, 500 Washington Street) regarding the school air conditioning project. If members of our school community are interested in communicating with Advisory about the project, now is a good time to engage. Community members can do so in person or via email.
As a reminder, there is an article on the Town Meeting warrant seeking support for a feasibility study to equip Bates, Fiske, Schofield, and Wellesley Middle School with air conditioning. The FMD presentation linked here and meeting agenda linked here are posted on the town website.
The Advisory Committee meeting on 2/26 begins at 6:30pm with Citizen Speak, which is a chance for community members to share their thoughts with Advisory in person in a public setting. Community members can also email Advisory at advisorycommittee@wellesleyma.gov.
Volunteer Opportunity for School Parents
Complete Streets Advisor
Passionate about safer streets? The Town’s Transportation and Mobility Manager is looking for 1 or 2 parents from each school site to serve as a neighborhood “advisor” to the development of the Town's Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. Ideally, this person has knowledge of school arrival and dismissal traffic patterns/paths cars, walkers and bikers use to travel through the immediate neighborhood to school. The Prioritization Plan will identify project locations, potential improvements and estimated project construction costs in a prioritized list that serves as a roadmap for future projects. Time commitment is expected to be 4-6 hours spanning 2 informal meetings. The two meetings will likely be in April and May. For more information, please contact Sheila Page, the Town's Mobility Coordinator, at spage@wellesleyma.gov.
Bates Contact for Bus Ambassadors
Would you like to help parents who are interested in signing up for the school bus? The PTO is looking for one or two parents of current riders who would be willing to serve as a "bus ambassador" in March and April during the bus registration process. All you have to do is make your contact information available to your school community and serve as a resource for those who are considering signing up for the bus. To volunteer, please let us know at batesptomail@gmail.com.
