Calling All Young Artists to Help Create a Better Tomorrow

Calling all young artists! OCPA invites those with the power of the paintbrush, colored pencils, or crayons in grades K-6 to join our youth art contest aimed at inspiring a brighter and greener future! Through the theme of “Picturing A Better Tomorrow,” students are asked to use their creativity to imagine and illustrate ways we can work together to combat climate change, protect our planet, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and embrace renewable energy for future generations.

Three winners will be selected and have the choice between a gift card for a family day at Knott’s Berry Farm or a one-year membership for a family of four to Pretend City.

Winning art may also be used to create murals for the OCPA offices.

Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 5 p.m.

Bridging Clean Energy and Public Health: Views from a SoCal Physician

One of the most important challenges to addressing climate change is finding equitable solutions that balance both our energy and public health needs, while giving special consideration to the impact on our underserved communities.

OCPA CEO Joe Mosca went to the perfect source to help dig into that dynamic. A Board Member of Santa-Ana based Latino Health Access, Dr. Lorenzo Gonzalez serves as a street medicine physician and community health advocate, providing care through a mobile clinic for those who are unhoused and otherwise vulnerable in Los Angeles. Dr. Gonzalez is also a leading local advocate for addressing climate change and sat down with Joe in our latest episode of “Sustainably Speaking” to talk about how we can empower each other to improve our shared climate and health.

Cheers to a New Year of Serving Orange County!

With 2025 well underway, OCPA is thrilled to continue serving Orange County customers with clean and reliable electricity! Our three options for investing in renewable power have so far saved our customers $17.4 million, while also saving 2 billion pounds of climate-altering carbon dioxide emissions from entering the atmosphere (the equivalent to taking over 221,000 gasoline-powered vehicles off the road).

In 2024, we launched the OCPA Incentive Finder, a directory of available state, federal and local clean energy rebates. We also held 28 events in our member communities of Buena Park, Fullerton and Irvine, and announced our newest member – the City of Fountain Valley, which will begin service in late 2026!
