This year's mill & overlay project underway
The Public Works Department begins this year’s mill and overlay project to improve more than six miles of city roads across Cleburne.

In this construction, crews will remove the top layer of pavement and replace it with a new driving surface. The project is scheduled in phases with each phase lasting a couple of weeks to complete weather permitting.

The contractor began work on Prairie Street from Featherston to Country Club, Berkley Drive from Westhill to Hemphill, and South Colonial Drive from Henderson to Highway 4. Crews will then move on to North Ridgeway Drive from Henderson to Woodard and Woodard Avenue from Gatrix to Ridgeway. This project also includes portions of West Industrial Boulevard, North Anglin Street, Chase Avenue, South Washington Street, Granbury Street, and Yellow Jacket Drive. This project's phase schedule may change because of its size. The City will provide updates as the project progresses.

The City does not plan to close roadways during construction, but motorists can expect changes in traffic due to construction including the use of on-site flaggers.

This $4 million dollar paving work is part of a continued investment from City Council to maintain and improve Cleburne’s infrastructure. This project is in addition to the 3.3 miles of roadway that was already resurfaced this past November. Last year’s $1.49 million dollar Roadway Reconstruction Project was just recently completed as well.

Police PSA: Move Over Law Saves Lives
The “Move over Law” was created to protect the lives of public servants who are working on dangerous roadways and under hazardous conditions. Please obey the law and “Move Over” when you see these people out doing their jobs. The law asks motorists to either move to another lane or slow down 20-mph below the posted speed limit when passing a stationary emergency vehicle with its lights flashing.

The Cleburne Police Department, as part of a new safety campaign aimed at making the streets of Cleburne safer for all who use them, will be out actively enforcing this law in the coming weeks. Please spread the word about this law so that we can avoid a tragedy taking place. The men and women in public service thank you!

TJ - formerly known as Leia - is officially the most urgent pup in the shelter. Why? Because she has been here for almost 6 weeks! No puppy wants to grow up in the shelter! This goofy pup is smart, gets along great with other dogs, and just loves to cuddle! TJ is also working on crate training and is doing a great job! TJ is a 3-month-old, female collie-type mix and should mature to be a medium sized dog. Come and meet this super great pup soon!
