The James Webb Space Telescope is the largest astrophysics mission in NASA's history and is planned to launch on December 18th! Designed to see the first galaxies forming shortly after the Big Bang, it has been nicknamed the "First Light Machine."The James Webb Telescope's potential is so transformative for astronomy that three international space agencies – NASA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency – have partnered together to bring it to launch. Dr. Kathryn Flanagan, astronomer emerita at the Space Telescope Science Institute, will introduce us to this marvelous facility and the science it will return.

Professor Ting is a world-renowned particle physicist and MIT Professor of Physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1976, which he shared with Burton Richter, for the discovery of the J/ψ meson particle.

Professor Ting currently leads the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) experiment on the International Space Station, searching for the origins of antimatter dark matter and cosmic rays.

The Friends happily announce they are accepting limited book donations

Sundays Only from 1pm-4pm
Limit: 2 Grocery Size Bags or 2 Small Boxes
Location: South Entrance Lobby on the Green Carts

We welcome books only in good condition for both adults and children including fiction and nonfiction, both hardcover and paperback.

We Cannot Accept:
Magazines; encyclopedias; travel or computer books more than 2 years old; items with
obvious damage (water, mold, mildew, broken spines, pages missing or falling out).
Please do not donate these items, as they take time and effort to dispose of. Please do
not leave books, DVDs, or CDs outside the library.
