The Montana Chamber in partnership with the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) works to elevate the voice of the manufacturing industry nationally. Our victory with HB 212 which increased the Business Equipment Tax Exemption from $300,000 to $1,000,000 during the 68th Legislative Session is a demonstration of how when we use our voice, we can get things done to improve Montana's business climate.

The event is free, includes appetizers and two beer tickets, however a 'RSVP' is requested.
IMPORTANT: AS AN EMPLOYER, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEDICAID UNWINDING
During the pandemic, states did not process eligibility renewals for those enrolled in Medicaid. Here in Montana, that included Medicaid and Healthy Montana Kids. This spring, states were given the green light to restart the eligibility renewal process and as a result, over the next ten months (by January 2024), all 320,000+ Montanans will be reassessed for their Medicaid eligibility and some Montanans will lose Medicaid coverage in that process. They may then be looking to enroll in other health insurance coverage options. Loss of Medicaid or Healthy Montana Kids triggers a special enrollment period, but only for a limited time. Montana businesses can help provide information to their employees about the Medicaid unwinding so that employees who lose Medicaid coverage are able to successfully transition to other health insurance coverage.

  • If businesses have questions: Your agent or broker can provide information during this process, however Cover Montana can also help give your more information about the Medicaid unwinding process and how to best support employees transitioning their coverage. Employers should contact: Tierney Strandberg, tstrandberg@mtpca.org.

  • If employees have questions and need enrollment help, direct them to:
  • Visit the Cover Montana website,
  • Find free, confidential local enrollment assistance with just a zip code at www.covermt.org/help,
  • Use the Cover Montana free help line for phone or virtual enrollment: (844) 682-6837.

Funding comes from Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program that Senator Tester helped write into law;
More than 100k unserved locations in Montana anticipated to receive coverage

(Big Sandy, Mont.) – As a direct result of his bipartisan infrastructure law, U.S. Senator Jon Tester today secured $628,973,798 in funding from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program to build high speed internet infrastructure that is anticipated to cover more than 100,000 unserved locations across Montana.

BEAD is a new program which Tester secured in his bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and is a cornerstone of the overall effort to finally close the digital divide and ensure every corner of Montana has internet access. Tester worked with five Republicans and four Democrats to negotiate the IIJA.
Over the next three years, Montana will receive $24 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for the Montana Bright Futures project at DPHHS.

The project is designed to increase access to quality child care, promote strong, healthy families, and address child care workforce availability, recruitment, and retention.
