Contacting Your Counselor
|
|
We love to hear from you! We welcome your calls and emails to share how your classes are going, when you have questions, when you are registering for courses, and other feedback you’d like to share. We ask that when you are emailing your counselor, you sign your full name in the email or make sure your full name is part of your email address. This allows your counselor to access your scholarship information more quickly, provide the best answers to your questions, and improve response time. Counselors answer emails and phone calls in the order received, but please know there are peak times each semester when it may take a little longer than usual.

Is your contract expiring at the end of December? Are you interested in continuing with classes in spring? Contact your counselor if you need a Contract Renewal Form. You will need to complete the form, have your director (if you are an employee of a program) sign it, and return to T.E.A.C.H. with income verification by Nov. 1. Don’t delay!
Note: Your contract dates are printed on your contract under the demographic information for WECA, your center, and you.
|
|
Applications for the spring semester also are due by Nov. 1.If you have colleagues or staff members who may be applying, here are helpful tips to ensure the applications are completed successfully.
-
The first page of the application has instructions on how to complete it. Please read carefully. These step-by-step instructions offer a road map to successful completion of a T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship application and for payment of the application fee. If required information is missing or the fee is not paid at the time you submit your application, it will delay the process and could impact the timeline for potentially being awarded a scholarship.
-
The T.E.A.C.H. scholarship is a cost-sharing model scholarship. If you are working in a group center, you and center administration should discuss your educational goals and the goals of the center, and choose the scholarship model that best fits the needs of you and your program. Scholarship models can be found here and are listed on the application.
-
Please submit the completed application, along with income verification, via email at [email protected]. If faxing or sending by postal mail, please contact T.E.A.C.H. via email to confirm receipt.
-
Please note that there are DEADLINES to apply based on the semester you would like to start.
-
Fall semester: July 1
-
Spring semester: Nov. 1
-
Summer: April 1
We look forward to supporting your professional development goals!

If you are enrolled in the fall semester, you are eligible for a one-time technology stipend of up to $1,000, which can be used toward the purchase of a computer, printer, iPad, and/or Apple Pencil. You are able to access the stipend either through a reimbursement process or by having T.E.A.C.H. purchase from a selected list of items at Best Buy and ship directly to you.
You will need to contact your counselor for a Technology Purchase Request or Technology Reimbursement form. The form needs to be returned with proof of enrollment, and, if requesting reimbursement, with receipt or proof of purchase. T.E.A.C.H. strongly recommends you talk to your college about what technology they recommend to best support your success in your classes. This is a one-time stipend – therefore, T.E.A.C.H. cannot reimburse for additional purchases if your first purchase isn’t a good match for the technology at your school. Your contract and personal responsibilities agreement must be signed before any purchases or reimbursements are made.
Have Questions? Technology Stipend FAQs
- How can I get the form for reimbursement, or to have T.E.A.C.H. purchase for me?
- Contact your T.E.A.C.H. scholarship counselor and they will email you the appropriate form.
- Do I need to purchase from your list, or from Best Buy, if I purchase on my own?
- No, you do not, but be sure to check with your college before purchasing. This stipend is only available once.
- How do I claim reimbursement?
- You must submit a Technology Stipend Reimbursement form, proof of payment, and proof of enrollment for the current semester to your scholarship counselor.
- What do I need to submit as proof of enrollment in classes?
- You can log into your student account and send your counselor a screenshot of your registration page that shows your name, the school name, the semester, and the courses you are taking, or an unofficial transcript that lists enrolled course(s) for the current semester. You also may be able to print your schedule from your student page.
- Can I purchase an Android tablet?
- We will reimburse recipients for the purchase of an Android tablet, but be sure to check with your college before purchasing. Different learning management systems interact better with some operating systems than others, or it may be that your college will want you to download texts onto hardware which uses a specific operating system.
- Can I be reimbursed for a computer that I bought from a friend, or from eBay?
- No. T.E.A.C.H. will reimburse new equipment only from an established retailer (Best Buy, Costco, Target, Walmart, etc.).
- When are you (T.E.A.C.H.) purchasing technology items for those who request it?
-
Purchase request forms received by the end of month will be purchased on the 15th of the following month.
- How will I receive the technology T.E.A.C.H. has purchased?
- Your order will be shipped to the home address T.E.A.C.H. has on file for you. If you would prefer it to be shipped to a different address (your center, for example), you will need to indicate that on the Technology Purchase Request Form.
- When will I receive my reimbursement?
- You can expect to receive your reimbursement within 4-6 weeks of submitting all required documentation.
- Can my center purchase technology for me and ask for reimbursement?
- Yes, but the center administration must understand and agree that the technology will belong to you, not the center.
- Can I be reimbursed for other accessories, such as ear buds?
- No, you may purchase and request reimbursement for a laptop, iPad/Apple Pencil, and/or printer.
- My contract is expiring at the end of the semester, and I plan to renew for another scholarship. Will I be eligible for another technology stipend?
- No, this is a one-time stipend. Each recipient is only eligible to receive the stipend once.
- Do I need to return the technology at the end of my scholarship?
- No. It is yours to keep.
