SEPTEMBER 2022 | ISSUE 86
CFX announced the new E-PASS Volume Savings Program, which will increase toll discount savings for customers on all CFX-owned expressways as of September 1. This program replaces the E-PASS Customer Loyalty Discount Program that has provided toll discounts to E-PASS customers. E-PASS has been providing toll discounts to customers since 1998.

The E-PASS Volume Savings Program is a tiered program that provides toll discounts based on the number of transactions per transponder each month. E-PASS customers are automatically enrolled in the program and savings will be credited to a customer’s account, the following month, starting in October 2022. There are no monthly transaction or processing fees. Under the new volume savings program, E-PASS customers will save as much as 25% on tolls each month. To learn more, click here.

Now is a great time to tell your family and friends to get an E-PASS and take advantage of the E-PASS Volume Savings Program. Get E-PASS online at Amazon, at GetEpass.com, at the CFX Walk-In Center, in the Reload Lanes, or via the E-PASS app.

Public Meeting Held on SR 408/Tampa Avenue Interchange Project
CFX, in partnership with the City of Orlando, held a public information meeting on September 1 for the SR 408/Tampa Avenue Interchange Project, which will include many pedestrian and driver safety enhancements. The meeting drew nearly 60 residents from surrounding neighborhoods. Attendees viewed a presentation and displays, asked questions about the project and submitted comments.

Planned improvements include a full interchange with new ramps from Tampa Avenue to eastbound SR 408 and from westbound SR 408 to Tampa Avenue, as well as an additional lane on eastbound SR 408 from John Young Parkway to Orange Blossom Trail. The project includes improved sidewalks, lighting and crosswalks along Tampa Avenue.

New Expressway for Southeast Orange County
Design begins this fall on the first phase of a new CFX expressway: State Road 534. More than six miles of new roadway from SR 417 to Narcoossee Road will provide access from the fast-growing Lake Nona area to Orlando International Airport and downtown Orlando. The first segment in design includes the interchange at SR 417 to Laureate Boulevard. Construction of SR 534 is expected to begin in late 2025.

TIPS FOR DRIVING IN SEVERE WEATHER DURING HURRICANE SEASON
Floridians know that severe weather can happen at any time, and it can increase the potential for dangerous situations. This is especially true during hurricane season, which lasts until the end of November.

Here are some safety tips for driving on Central Florida roadways in severe weather:

  • Activate your headlights
  • Decrease your speed and allow a greater space between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you
  • On local roadways, if you come across a heavily flooded area, turn around—do not drive through
  • You can activate your hazard lights if you are traveling in severe weather and if the roadway has a speed limit of 55 mph or greater
  • If you feel unsafe driving, you always have the option to exit the expressway or pull off the road and wait until the weather improves
