Skip-Gen travel, also called gramping, is a growing travel trend of grandparents and grandkids traveling together without the childrenโs parents
('skipping the middle generation').
Whatโs fueling the Skip-Gen travel trend?
For one thing, money. An AARP report noted that these trips will mostly be paid for by the grandparentsโwhich makes sense when you consider that many in the Baby Boomer generation are now retired and more financially stable.
They have both the time and the means to take vacations and want to bring their grandkids along to spend quality time with them.
Not all grandparents are retired...and not everybody has grandchildren.
But many still want to honor a special birthday, a graduation or any other excuse to share an adventure and make memories with their grandchildren,
grandnieces or grandnephews.
Skip-Gen vacations can be a win-win:
๐ Grandparents get extra time that theyโd otherwise miss with grandkids
๐ Parents get a nice break from parenting and can build in some alone time
๐ Grandkids have an opportunity to bond and have fun with grandparents!
