The Case of The Recurring Dry Skin

As an acupuncture practitioner, I am called on to solve health-related mysteries when patients come to my clinic with various symptoms. Recently, an interesting case has engaged my sleuthing skills. I have noticed recurring dry skin in many of my patients, and I decided to look into it.

As a medical sleuth, I gather background information about a patient including nutrition and food choices, lifestyle, and stress level. A patient’s answers to these questions will give me clues to why their dry skin is occurring. As I observe the health of their skin, hair and nails I gather evidence that helps me to determine the cause.

Find out how the mystery was solved in our latest blog article.
Reinforce Your Strength
Rhodiola has a long history of use in Tibetan, Chinese, Russian and Scandinavian folk medicine. Growing in high elevations, this herbal formula has long been used for lung concerns such as coughing and pneumonia a well as treating fatigue and weakness. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Rhodiola can help the body resist pathogens, enrich the blood, and nourish the brain. This formula is designed to treat asthma, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, emphysema, and associated symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath.

Research has shown that Rhodiola preparations reinforce physical strength, enhance endurance, compensate for low oxygen, relieve tiredness and weakness, and improve efficiency of physical and mental work.

Although there are a variety of Rhodiola formulas on the market, I prescribe Rhodiola and Ginseng from Health Concerns, based on the traditional formula. This formula also contains Apricot, Licorice, Ginseng, Poria, Mulberry, Fritillaria, and Anemarrhena.

The Power of the Lungs
I’ve watched this video of Carrie Underwood singing many times and I am still overcome with emotion each time I watch it! Interpretation of the lyrics is up to you, but what's not debatable is the obvious feeling of the singer's own devotion. We feel it in the power of her voice. This is the metal element governed by the lungs, in charge of sadness and weeping.

The power of the lungs is so evident in this video. The strength of your voice is determined by your lungs, where the spirit resides. The words inspiration and aspiration are related to the lungs for this very reason.

How amazing and incredible that the emotions are the body’s way of understanding the expression the lungs are making. What we can achieve and experience when our bodies, minds and spirits are working together is unbounded. This is how we become whole.
Take Action
Prayer in any form is efficacious because it is an action. It will, therefore, have a result. This is the law of the universe in which we find ourselves.
