OFNA hosts "Feel Good in Fondren"

OurFondren Neighborhood Association will hold their Fall Quarterly Meeting on Tuesday, October 18, at 5:30 - 7pm, at St James Church Oakridge House, 3921 Oakridge Drive. .....Light refreshments will be served. The theme is ‘Feel Good in Fondren’ with speakers, board nominations, membership drive and seasonal events.

If you would like to serve on the board, please send an email to Info.ofna@gmail.com prior to the meeting.

.....Civic groups, non-profits, neighborhoods, friends - we want you to be part of our Fondren Parade Fun on Friday, Nov. 11! 

.....Celebrate your own cause or join in the celebration of our Fondren Veterans. Floats, golf carts, decorated cars or groups on foot! Everyone is welcome! 

.....This year's parade will start in the parking lot of Fondren Presbyterian Church and will pass by a reviewing stand at our sponsor Trustmark's Fondren Office.

Help us Honor a Fondren veteran

.....This year's Fondren Fondren UnWrapped parade will fall on Veteran's Day, November 11, and we would like to honor our Fondren veterans during the parade, either as part of the parade or in a special reviewing area.

.....Please help us identify Fondren veterans. A veteran is anyone who has served a minimum of 24 months of active duty or anyone who has become disabled during any period of active duty service.

Woodland Hills celebrates with cook off

.....The Woodland Hills neighborhood held its first Neighborhood Chili Cook-off for National Night Out on October 4. Neighbors and guests are photographed above with members of the Hinds County Sheriff's Office. JPD officers also made an appearance at the event.

Aladdin brings back breakfast

.....Now, another choice for breakfast in Fondren: Aladdin Mediterranean Grill is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. 

Photographer Clay in Fondren for opening

.....Photographer Maude Schuyler Clay will be exhibiting her photos of legendary Memphis band, Big Star at End of All Music on October 29. Clay will be present for the opening at 5 p.m.

.....Photos will be available for purchase.

.....Clay's work will also be on display at the Mississippi Museum of Art, October 29 - March 5.

Fondren Theatre Workshop is emerging from its 'covid coma' with the revival of its series of 'Playwright Nights,' this October, as well as plans to stage a couple of productions in 2023.  There is a $5 suggested donation for the October 19th production.  The event is planned to be outdoors on the back porch so attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets.  Stay tuned to www.fondrentheatreworkshop.org or check them on Facebook and Twitter.

Pop Up Art Show at The Cedars

....."A Garden Awakening" will be available for viewing during Symphony at Sunset on Thursday. Curated by Brown's Fine Art & Framing, the show features garden-inspired works by several of Brown's artists. Private showing also available upon request.

Renaissance Society meets at The Cedars

.....Members of Fondren's Renaissance Society met recently at The Cedars for a preview of "A Garden Awakening" and to thank Renaissance Society 2022 Chairs Dr. Albert and Caroline Lin for their service. 2023 Chairs will be announced in November.

Support the USA IBC with Greenery

.....Friends of USA IBC volunteers Emily Sandoval and Allison Brown Simmons of Brown's Fine Arts & Framing are helping to raise funds in support of the 2023 International Ballet Competition with a holiday wreath and garland sale.

.....All greenery is handmade of premium evergreens from the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest.
