The People Jesus Loved: Woman at the Well & Zacchaeus

This February, as we celebrate the month of love, we're diving deep into the heart of Jesus' ministry by looking at the specific people he loved. While we may have been taught that Jesus loves everyone-and that's absolutely true-this series will highlight some of the individuals and groups Jesus showed love to in profound and often unexpected ways.

Defining Moments: Speaks Truth to Power, Matthew 23:23-28

"Defining Moments: Speaking Truth to Power" captures the boldness of Jesus as He confronts hypocrisy and injustice head-on. In speaking truth to power, Jesus empowers us to find the courage to stand for justice in our own lives, challenging us to live with integrity and conviction.

Good News Statement: Jesus speaks truth to power so that we may have the courage to stand for justice.

SPECIAL CHURCH CONFERENCE THIS SUNDAY

Dear UMCG Family,

In accordance with The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church, a Special Church Conference has been called for Sunday, February 9, 2025, to be held ten minutes after the conclusion of our 9:00 am worship service in the sanctuary.

The purpose of this Special Church Conference is to consider and approve a funding allocation of $235,000 from our UMGFund to the Trustees for necessary repairs and improvements to both our church building and parsonages. This funding request has already been reviewed and approved by both the UMGFund Committee and Church Council in accordance with our UMGFUND bylaws.

For context, late this fall, Ron Donovan, our Chair of Trustees, presented the Trustees' 40-year plan, including the 2025 projects covered by this funding request. The full list of Trustees' projects for 2025 is attached in a document referred to as the Book of Work. Additionally, we have included a 17-minute video recording from the January 28th Church Council meeting, which explains how the plan works, answers common questions and introduces the task force created to develop a funding strategy for asset management—ensuring we continue to be good stewards of all our assets, including our UMGFund dollars.

Our District Superintendent, Rev. Wendy Hardin Hermann, has authorized Rev. Rob Hamilton to preside over this Special Church Conference. All professing members of UMCG are encouraged to attend and have the right to vote, but please note that votes must be cast in person—proxy voting is not permitted.

Your presence and participation in this meeting are vital as we make informed decisions about our church’s resources and prepare for the future of our ministry together.

If you have questions about the scope of work or are interested in assisting the Trustees or joining the Funding Strategy Task Force, please contact Ron Donovan or Pastor Rob.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration and participation.

Grace and peace,

Rev. Rob Hamilton
