September 2022
Bennington Museum Monthly
We were so pleased with the turnout for the artist's reception and 25th anniversary celebration of the North Bennington Outdoor Sculpture Show at Bennington Museum this past Thursday. The weather was beautiful and it was a perfect opportunity to gather with friends, share food and drink (thank you Kevin Lynch), and enjoy the amazing acrobatics of John Umphlett (above) and the Bennington Beladi dancers.

We also unveiled a short documentary film during the party which talks about the creation and evolution of NBOSS over the decades and includes interviews with several founding artists. You can find the video on our website and below as well.
Remember, the NBOSS sculptures are on display and accessible free of charge at the Museum and in North Bennington through mid-November. You can pick up a map of the Museum grounds and trails at the front desk and take your time exploring these fabulous pieces of art.

We hope to see you soon!

Jane Stickle is back!

Coming this Labor Day the Jane Stickle Quilt will begin its short stint on its annual display rack. The 1863 quilt is comprised of 169 five-inch blocks, each in different patterns, containing a remarkable total of 5,602 pieces surrounded by a unique scalloped border. The impeccable craftsmanship of the quilt has been mentioned in numerous quilting books, and is the topic of Dear Jane, The Two Hundred Twenty-Five Patterns from the 1863 Jane A. Stickle Quilt, by Brenda Papadakis. Made famous by this book, quilters from around the country, and world, plan trips to the region during this time to see the famous textile and to bring their own versions along for photo ops.
Take it with you...

If you need to get your Jane Stickle on, the Museum Store has you covered! Choose from a variety of quilted merchandise like tote bags or prints. The best part? You can purchase in-person or order on-line and have it shipped. Let us know how we can assist you, and happy shopping!
