FACT SHEET: President Biden Announces Strategy to
Address Our National Mental Health Crisis, As Part of
Unity Agenda in his First State of the Union

In his first State of the Union, the President outlined a unity agenda consisting of policy where there has historically been support from both Republicans and Democrats, and called on Congress to send bills to his desk to deliver progress for the American people. As part of this unity agenda, he announced a strategy to address our national mental health crisis.
 
Mental Health and COVID-19: Early Evidence of the Pandemic’s Impact
 
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on the mental health and wellbeing of people around the world. While many individuals have adapted, others have experienced mental health problems, in some cases a consequence of COVID-19 infection. The pandemic also continues to impede access to mental health services and has raised concerns about increases in suicidal behaviour.
 
The aim of this scientific brief is to present current evidence regarding the mental health aspects of the pandemic and inform prevention, response and recovery efforts worldwide. The target audience includes health care providers, researchers, policy- makers and any other stakeholders interested in the evidence on COVID-19 and mental health.

The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) announces approving Centene Corporation’s (Centene) acquisition of Magellan Health, Inc. (Magellan) with conditions to ensure the merger does not adversely impact enrollees or the stability of California’s health care delivery system.
 
Getting Your Feelings Out Is Good for Your Mental Health
People who repress feelings fall into many uncomfortable situations.
 
According to National Institute of Mental Health research, people who repress their feelings fall into many uncomfortable situations from illness to envy. The thing we must remember is that feelings occur for a reason and, just as the body needs to breathe to stay alive, you also need to express your emotions to stay healthy.
