Remember to Thank YOUR Coaches!

National Coaches Week

National Coaches Week (September 18-26, 2021) is a time to celebrate the positive impact coaches have on athletes and their communities across Canada. The annual campaign is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by taking the time to say #ThanksCoach.

A big #ThanksCoach goes out to Ontario Sailing's Provincial Coach Chris Hewson for all he does for the young athletes in Ontario and beyond! He's dedicated to making sailors the best that they can be. As the winner of Sail Canada's 2018 Coach of the Year award, we're proud to call him our coach every day of every year!

Remember to thank those special coaches in your life this week ...
and all throughout the year!
CANSail Program Manager Module
Online Course

The Program Manager Module is designed to assist individuals in becoming competent administrators of CANSail Learn to Sail programming. This 5-session online course is targeted at those who would like to develop the skills necessary to run a sailing school (ie. Head Instructor or volunteer sailing school directors). The role of Program Manager encompasses new responsibilities that are a drastically different from those that coaches and instructors may have previously had. This includes hiring staff, motivating sailors and coaches, maximizing boat time for all participants, managing on site safety, and liaising with parents and sailing school directors. All these tasks present new challenges that will test your abilities far beyond your sailing knowledge.

If you are currently a certified Sail Canada Learn to Sail Instructor, this course will re-certify your current instructor level and equivalent CANSail Level. NOTE: This will not change a TRAINED certification to CERTIFIED status.

Prerequisites:
This course requires participants to complete several pre-course assignments prior to the first session. Registrants will receive a workbook and instructions from the Learning Facilitator via email.
Note: Upon successful completion of this course and all assignments, any existing Dinghy Instructor Certifications the candidate holds will be re-certified for 4 years to December 31.

Cost:  A one-time payment of $357.30 (includes HST).

Schedule:  Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm EASTERN TIME
  • Session 1 - November 9
  • Session 2 - November 16
  • Session 3 - November 23
  • Session 4 - November 30
  • Final session - December 7

Participation is all sessions is mandatory.
