21The Project Manager Development Program (PMDP), created by AGC of America, is designed to specifically meet the needs of the construction industry. The curriculum, along with the activities and shared experiences of course participants, provides the necessary skills and knowledge to increase the participant’s ability to work successfully with others to ensure project success.
The 40-hour five-unit program covers the basics of project management and provides tactics and strategies for ensuring project success. Each course listed below consists of 8 hours of in-seat classroom instruction.

- Unit 2 Initiating and Planning Part 1 (Feb 4, 2022, 7:30-4:00 PM)

- Unit 4 Executing (March 4, 2022, 7:30-4:00 PM)
- Unit 5 Monitoring and Controlling and Project Closeout (March 18, 2022, 7:30-4:00 PM)
AGC Middle TN PMDP Instructor: Dr. Kelly Strong
Dr. Kelly C. Strong received his Baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University, an MBA from University of St. Thomas, and a Ph.D. from University of Colorado. He has been teaching project management related courses for over 25 years at Michigan Technological University, Iowa State University, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Strong has acted as principal investigator on numerous research projects involving case study research, survey research, expert panel/expert opinion research, and database queries and analysis. He has delivered numerous final reports for state, regional, and national research sponsors. Dr. Strong has completed a range of research projects in the areas of risk assessment and mitigation, workzone safety, project management, workforce development, and innovative contracting and financing for public infrastructure projects. He has been active in numerous professional organizations in the construction industry, including Associated General Contractors and Design Build Institute of America.
