“Save us, Lord, from a religion that ignores the cries of the exploited and oppressed. Lead us into a deeper faith that challenges injustice and makes the sacrifices that must be made to build a society that is ever more truly human. Amen.”
-Walter Brueggemann
Eternal Hope
In the Christian Church, many people around the world have embarked on a 40 day season called Lent. Lent is a time when many people choose to fast in an effort to be reminded that our whole lives are dependent on God. We reflect on the fragility of our own mortality all the while holding on to the paradox of an eternal hope.

It seems ever appropriate to reflect on Lent right now in light of the current events around our world. Even within our own community, we witness pain and suffering as we hear stories of our clients dealing with cancer, potential eviction from their home, and chronic depression and anxiety. Through all the hurt and challenges we hear and see daily, we intentionally choose to spread an eternal hope through kindness, compassion, and dignifying services.

In this season when many are reflecting upon our dependency on God, may we also remember how interconnected we are to each other. Our thoughtful actions of kindness and compassion are ways we can spread needed hope to a hurting world.

Grace and Peace,
Kevin Pranoto, Executive Director
Our New Box Truck!
The box truck that Mission Oak Cliff has waited for has finally arrived! After months of delay due to supply-chain issues, we finally have the box truck to pick up thousands of pounds of food from Crossroads Community Services and our retail partners every week!

We are especially grateful to Wilshire Baptist Church and the North Texas Food Bank for providing us with the funds for this major purchase. We are also grateful to Industrial Power Truck and Equipment for helping us source the truck to purchase.
Souper Bowl of Caring
Cliff Temple Baptist Church and Smith Chapel AME both chose to benefit Mission Oak Cliff for their Souper Bowl of Caring food drive. We are extremely grateful for the over 2 thousand pounds of food donated to us on February 15th!

Mission Oak Cliff distributes about 1,500 pounds of food to over 40 households daily. We rely on the generous support of our community partners to help feed people experiencing food insecurity in Oak Cliff.

If you or your organization would like to host a food, clothing, or hygiene drive for Mission Oak Cliff, please contact Travis Aune.
Thank you, Exxir!
Did you get the opportunity to visit the Tipsy Elf pop-up bar in Bishop Arts this past holiday season? If so, you might have purchased a mug that benefitted Mission Oak Cliff.

Thank you to Exxir Hospitality for choosing to support Mission Oak Cliff through that event, and thank you to everyone who came out and purchased a mug! In February, Exxir Hospitality presented MOC with the $6,000 check, and we are filled with gratitude.
Adult Education
Mission Oak Cliff is prioritizing the strengthening of our adult education program over the next 3 years. We believe that education provides people with the opportunities to thrive in life through improved job prospect, career development, and financial stability.

The revamping of our adult education will include a partnership with Dallas College to provide a clear track for students to succeed in a vocation. We are grateful for a generous donor who has already invested $25,000 to help jump start this important initiative. To learn how you can get involved, contact Kevin Pranoto.
Volunteer Needs
We are looking for more committed volunteers to fill the needs we have, especially as we plan to reopen our facilities. We have opportunities to volunteer during the morning and afternoon. If you have 1 or 2 hours in your day to come and help, we could use it! Some needs include...

  • Client Services Volunteer
  • Food Pantry Volunteer
  • Administration

Please visit www.missionoakcliff.org/volunteer to learn more. You can also contact Travis with any questions.
