Call for Nominations: BUMC Emerging Leaders Program

This two-day intensive program explores the characteristics of effective leaders and introduces key leadership skills to help late assistant professors and early associate professors on the Medical Campus. Participants attend discussions on what it takes to emerge as a leader, and workshops to practice those skills and develop a network of peers.

Interested faculty should discuss their nominations with their department chair, division chief or an associate dean or center director.

Department chairs, division chiefs, associate deans or center directors should submit the nominee’s name, CV and no more than a one page description of their promise as a leader, their effectiveness, innovation, reliability, and capacity to energize and motivate others to [email protected] by COB Friday, Oct. 7.

Seeking Candidates: Director, BU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center

Dr. Neil Kowall would like to retire from the position of Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) Director, and thus we are seeking candidates for the ADRC Directorship position.

The director of the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center reports to the BUSM Dean and will be an MD, PhD or equivalent, with an outstanding record of federal funding, leadership, rigorous research and mentorship in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias sufficient for a professor-level rank, and an inspiring leader who will guide the growth of Alzheimer's disease research at BUSM.

They are expected to pursue research that will advance our understanding of the etiology of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and to improve therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a bold, purpose-driven mission that builds on existing expertise and resources at Boston University and will demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the brain sciences. They are responsible for the overall organization and performance of the Center, and with the ADRC Executive Committee, responsible for its governance and fiscal decision-making.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter and CV to BUSMDean@bu.edu. Applications will remain open until a candidate is selected.

Celebrating Faculty Success

Recently the Dean’s Office digitized paper files and the file cabinets have now been replaced by a bookcase that will showcase BUSM awards, international collaborations and textbooks written or edited by BUSM faculty.

If you would like to share a copy of a textbook you have written or edited, please bring it to the Dean’s Office reception desk.

Please keep in mind that the book must be written or edited by a BUSM faculty member. We don’t have sufficient space to accommodate books in which our faculty have contributed a chapter.
