THIS WEEK AT ..................

St. Pete First UMC

Hi Kelly—

This coming Sunday is the third Sunday of Advent - we will be lighting the candle of Joy.

There will be no 8 am service on Sunday. Our 9:30 am Ignite service will be at its regular time, and we hope to have everyone join us for our Christmas Cantata at 11 am. This is a perfect Sunday to invite a guest to join you in church!

Childcare for all ages will be available during the cantata.

Join us in helping others this holiday season! We are collecting newborn diapers for moms & babies in need, plus items for our Homeless Outreach ministry partner. Both of these collections will continue through 12/25. Click here for more information.

St. Pete First T-shirts have arrived! If you ordered St. Pete First T-shirts, they will be available in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, December 11th, from 9 to 11 am and after the 11 am service. Cash or check accepted as payment.

Christmas Poinsettia orders are due on Dec. 11th. Reservation forms will be in the print bulletin on Sunday and on the information tables, or call the church office: (727) 894-4661. Christmas poinsettias will be added to the decorations in the Sanctuary from December 18-25. Your poinsettias may be picked up after the 8 pm Christmas Eve service or after the 10 am Christmas Day service.

The Ignite Praise Singers will be rehearsing for the 6 pm Contemporary Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, December 21st at 6 pm in the Sanctuary. They'd love to have you join them! Contact John Richardson for more information: [email protected]

Upcoming January Classes

Begins January 11th!  ...You pray for your own needs and for the needs of others. You pray in the face of conflict, and you pray for forgiveness. You pray to pour out your heart to God and to gain a glimpse of God's heart for you. Come join Pastor Margaret on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm starting on January 11th as we study for twelve weeks the prayers of men and women in the Bible (Mary, Abraham, Moses, Daniel and more!). We will gain new insights into why, what and how to pray. This study will help you to experience more fully the adventure that prayer can be.

Pastor Margaret will be using the book “Prayer: An Adventure with God” by David Healey, as a resource. Study guides will be available for purchase.

Begins January 11th! Pastor Bob will lead this class on an in-depth look into one of Jesus’ best loved parables—the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). In the study we will dive into uncovering some of the least known secrets of the parable’s purpose and expose the depth of God’s love and how His grace extends into some unexpected places. Using the book The Prodigal God (written by best-selling author Timothy Keller) as a resource, Pastor Bob will help illuminate the treasures found in this critical story told by Jesus.

Starts January 11th! As a woman of today, have you ever thought about what God is calling you to do? Better yet, are you stopping long enough to hear God speak? This study on the story of Ruth is one of calling and yet an uncertain future. It helps take a story of history and bring it to life in today’s context for the busy woman who juggles so many balls each day.

Patti will be using the book The Girl’s Still Got It, by Liz Curtis Higgs, as a resource. Study guides will be available for purchase.
