Hurdle Health Expands Mental Health Support into California, Texas and Massachusetts for BIPOC Communities

Hurdle Health, a digital platform revolutionizing mental healthcare by providing services with a focus on culturally intentional mental healthcare for people of color today announced expanded service availability in Texas, Massachusetts and California with plans to add even more states by Q2 2022, including Tennessee, Minnesota, Illinois, Georgia, and New York.

With these expansions, the mental health service and its specially trained therapists are now licensed in 6 states to provide culturally comprehensive mental healthcare to more people of color in the U.S.


California Counties Look to Replicate Santa Clara's Youth Mental Health Centers

Last year, Santa Clara County tested the waters with an innovative way to connect troubled teens with mental health care. Now other counties are looking to follow suit.

The University of California at Irvine (UCI) announced this month it will be opening clinics in Orange County in the mold of allcove, a mental health clinic model developed by Stanford and officially launched in June 2021. Allcove has centers in Palo Alto and San Jose, offering a one-stop shop for everything from mental health services and primary care to addiction services and peer support.

Black Americans are 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems compared to the general community, but some are less likely to receive services than their white counterparts, the Columbia University department of psychiatry research found.

Newport News Gives Riverside Health System $3 million to Expand Mental Health Services

Newport News is contributing $3 million to Riverside Health System’s effort to expand its mental health services.

The nonprofit health system is expanding by investing $6 to $7 million of its own money into its behavioral health services along with asking for contributions from Newport News and Hampton and applying for state grants.
