Fireworks Can Trigger PTSD in Veterans

Did you know illegal fireworks can harm Moreno Valley's veteran community?

An unexpected fireworks explosion can trigger a startle response in people who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This psychiatric condition can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, including our veterans.

Let’s protect the heroes who have done so much for our country and leave fireworks to the professionals this Fourth of July.

To report illegal fireworks in your neighborhood, visit moval.org/fireworks.

Pet of the Week: Munch

Our Pet of the Week is Munch, a sweet three-year-old Pit Bull mix who is in need a new loving home. He was found as a stray with another dog who he shared a kennel with. Sadly, that dog got adopted and Munch has been very sad and a little scared without his friend. Munch may be timid, but he is an incredibly sweet dog who just needs a new friend. One visit with Munch, and you won’t be able to go home without him.

If you would like to make Munch or any pet from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter part of your family, please contact the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter at 951.413.3790 or visit www.moval.org/pets.
