ICAA Travel Revisited: Château de Saulon
with Valentin Goux
|
|
ICAA Travel Revisited takes viewers to remarkable architectural and design destinations around the globe. In this installment, join Valentin Goux, president of ICAA Member Firm RINCK, on a tour of the Château de Saulon, located in Saulon-la-Rue, France.
Located in the heart of Burgundy's renowned wine region, this château originated in the 16th century, and was completely rebuilt in the 17th after it had been destroyed. Most recently, after having served for years as a hotel of average quality, the Château de Saulon was given a thorough rejuvenation by RINCK, resulting in this stunning transformation into a boutique hotel featuring reintroduced mouldings, picturesque wallpapers, rich textiles, and inspired colors. Join Valentin for the full tour!

Recently, in the warmth of a mid-July day, twenty high school students from Cristo Rey Chicago saw their city through new eyes. The ICAA’s Grand Tour, first held in 2019 with New York City students, is a program that delves into the built environments of America’s great cities, and prompts students to explore their city’s architectural history, interrogate its current urban plan, and offer their own contributions to its public spaces. Tailored to each host school’s home city, Cristo Rey Chicago students spent the day immersed in their city’s history through discussions, tours, and a design project where their creativity flourished.
Thanks to Kane Brothers, Inc. Landscape Design for their generous sponsorship of The Grand Tour Chicago.

Christopher Spitzmiller is known to his friends and Instagram fans as the ultimate weekend farmer, who raises his own handsome chickens, grows his own flowers, and puts up his own jam, cider, and honey. In this—his first book—he treats readers to a full year at Clove Brook Farm, his idyllic but always-active country retreat. Filled with tips on garden-planning, creating seasonal flower arrangements, and living with animals, A Year at Clove Brook Farm is a timely book as we are all focused making the most of our own homes and gardens—even if that’s only a row of herbs in a sunny urban window—and it is the the perfect inspiration for anyone enthralled by the fantasy of full-on farmstead living.
