Parkside Athletics Hosted Fourth Annual Ranger Impact Open Presented by Gateway Mortgage Corporation

On Monday, July 18, Parkside Athletics hosted the fourth annual Ranger Impact Open presented by Gateway Mortgage Corporation. It was an incredible day at Kenosha Country Club, with perfect weather and a beautiful course as the backdrop.

The intent of this event is to host one of the community's best golf outings and thanks to the support and generosity of so many, this year's outing was the best one yet. This year, Parkside hosted the largest event in Ranger Impact Open history, with a full field of 144 golfers participating and the support of more than 60 sponsors.

"The impact of the Ranger Impact Open presented by Gateway Mortgage Corporation goes beyond our event, and we're so grateful for the generous participation of so many supporters," said Director of Athletics Andrew Gavin. "The funds raised will assist in a number of critical areas, including supporting our student-athletes experience and our graduate assistant program. While the outing generates significant dollars in support of Parkside Athletics and our student-athletes, our primary goals are to foster camaraderie and tell our story to our sponsors, supporters, and alumni."

A Whole New Perspective: Uncovering an Alternative Historical Narrative

Students from various Kenosha and Racine school districts presented research posters on African American history on Aug. 2 in UW-Parkside's Molinaro Hall, their faces beaming with excitement, pride, and the awe of examining history from a different perspective. The poster presentation represented the culmination of a unique and innovative history program called Alternative Historical Narratives.

Giving voice to the hard work and learning that took place over the last month and sharing that knowledge with others was a refreshing experience for the students. The course not only allowed these students to learn new things and meet new friends, but also allowed them to earn college credits as they start to consider their educational journey after high school. Local teachers also participated in the program and had the opportunity to earn up to six graduate credits as well.

2022-23 Parking Permits Now Available!

Faculty and staff are able to purchase 2022-2023 parking permits by the following methods:

Payroll deduction: Equal after-tax deductions will be made from your paycheck during the year.  Certain employees such as LTE’s, other part-time employees, and contract employees are not eligible for payroll deduction.  If you are not sure if you are eligible for payroll deduction, please contact Human Resources. Payroll deduction is available as an option during August & September 2022 onlyIf you are eligible, University Police highly recommends using this option.

  • If you have SOLAR access, you may log in to your SOLAR account and then under “Self Service,” choose “Purchase Parking Permit.” Select the type of permit and payroll deduction. Your transaction will be processed and your permit will be sent by campus mail to the office or room listed in the UW-Parkside directory. If you need to update your office location, contact Human Resources.
  • Those without SOLAR access who are permanent faculty/staff (not LTE’s, other part-time employees and contract employees) may click here https://uwparkside.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8q9qIJSPwvCIEmx and fill out the order form. You will receive a confirmation email and your permit will be sent to you by campus mail.

Pay by credit card, check, or money order:

  • If you have SOLAR access and would like to order the permit ahead of picking it up, you may log in to your SOLAR account and under “Self Service,” choose “Purchase Parking Permit.” Select the type of permit and payment method. Stop by UWPPD, Tallent Hall, room 188 to obtain your permit and pay.
  • Those without SOLAR access, LTE, other part-time employees, or contract employees need to come to the UWPPD in person, in Tallent Hall room 188, to obtain a permit.

At Parkside, we enjoy convenient parking options and our facilities team does a great job maintaining our parking areas, roadways and walkways. Parkside continues to be near the UW System average.

The parking program is self-funded and not supported by tuition or tax dollars. Your purchase of a parking permit sponsors the following:

Public safety

Our campus is a safe place to learn, work and visit. It is also an open and public environment. The UW-Parkside Police and Public Safety Department assists motorists with jump starts, small amounts of fuel, airing of low tires, and opening locked car doors.

Parking lot maintenance

Permit fees pay for snow removal, ice control, striping, lighting, and asphalt repair in the parking areas.

Bond payments and future expenditures

Bonds that financed new parking areas for the Student Center and The Rita are being repaid. Revenue from permit fees covers these payments and helps build funds for future renovation and maintenance of parking areas.
