Sunapee Happenings

With luck and the weather gods' help, the skies will cease spitting thunder, lightning and torrential rain and we’ll welcome the Summer Solstice precisely at 10:58 EDT this morning, heralding the longest day of 2023… and a starry sky tonight.

Bend low again , night of summer stars, So near you are, sky of

summer stars, So near, a long armed man can pick off stars Pick off

what he wants in the sky bowl, So near you are, summer stars So near,

strumming, strumming So lazy and hum-strumming.

Sunapee Fire Department Association Scholarships

President Joe Hampson of the Sunapee Fire Department Association (SFDA) announces the awarding of Sunapee Fire Department Association Scholarships to several area students.

As the Sunapee Middle-High School graduation on June 9th scholarship awards were presented to graduating Seniors Elizabeth Tschudin of Croydon and Alexander Sencabaugh of Sunapee. Two current college students applied for and received scholarships to continue their degree pursuits. Vanessa Pollari of Sunapee who is currently enrolled at Plymouth State University and Miah Hamm of Sunapee will be continuing classes at SUNY-Delhi.

The awards were open to all graduating seniors attending school in Sunapee, all Sunapee residents who were home schooled or attending a school outside of Sunapee, and Sunapee residents currently enrolled at a college or university. Several applications were submitted, and the scholarship committee selected the awards based on applicants meeting the posted criteria.

The SFDA is a 501(C)3 non-profit. Funding for the scholarships is raised by sales of house numbers signs, T-Shirts and challenge coins, as well as generous donors who specify they are contributing to the Scholarship fund.

Set in gossipy late 18th century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. Sense and Sensibility examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?  Learn More
