Registration is Open for the Federal Funding Account Applicant Tool
Dear LATA applicants and Members of the LATA Subscription List:

Important News! The California Public Utilities Commission has opened registration for the Federal Funding Account (FFA) Applicant Tool, a critical step in fulfilling the goals for Senate Bill 156 and Broadband for All.

The Applicant Tool makes it possible to (1) create project areas, (2) provides geographic, economic, and business case data necessary to develop applications, and (3) allows applicants to examine service needs, highlight Census Blocks, and see estimated subsidies for potential projects and use the tool to estimate how much projects will cost and how many potential customers they may have.

Projects designed in the Applicant Tool will be saved by applicants submitted through the Broadband Grant Portal when it goes online in Summer 2023.

Resources. There are a number of resources to help you use the Applicant Tool on our webpage including a Fact Sheet, Application Check List, Frequently Asked Questions, and links to other documents needed to facilitate the development of FFA applications.

Background. The CPUC established the Federal Funding Account in 2022 with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, in accordance with Senate Bill 156. The fund will provide $2 billion in grants for last-mile broadband infrastructure projects to connect unserved and underserved Californians with high-speed broadband services. The CPUC will begin accepting applications in Summer 2023.
