In Brief

In this edition of the Monday Morning Messenger, read our top story of the morning to read about one thing RRC inspectors are finding a lot of in the field.

Secondly, the heating season will be here before you know it. It may be time for your CSRs to brush up on important safety topics like interruptions of service. Read our second story of the morning to learn how they can.

Also, the TCEQ has finally released some initial information on the popular Texas Natural Gas Vehicle Grant Program that has awarded over $3.6 million to propane medium-duty vehicles over the years. Read our third story of the morning to find out how you can comment on the grant program before the upcoming grant round.

Also, we've been reading online about how many companies are celebrating landmark anniversaries, and we want to recognize our members' milestones. Find out more in our last story of the morning.

Don't forget to check out our Quick Links section for links for more information on how to enroll in the TPGA tire program, save on shipping with PSC, sign up for Propane Living, and find out how you can get RRC CE for attending our propane fire school.

Are Your Form 501s Piling Up?

Administrative tasks sometimes take a backseat because you are busy fulfilling your customers' everyday needs and completing essential jobs, but 501's can pile up over time and are due within 30 days from the date of completion of commercial propane installation under 10,000 gallons.

RRC Inspectors are reporting higher than 501 non-compliance rates.

These road warriors often come across these unreported installations on the way to other inspections.

Perpetual non-compliance could result in a violation.

Complete and send in your 501s before the busy heating season begins.

TCEQ Invites Comments on An Upcoming Propane Grant Round

Don't let the name deceive you; the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Texas Natural Gas Vehicle Grants Program, or TNGVGP for short, includes PROPANE AUTOGAS.

TNGVGP has financially assisted many a propane retailer in swapping out an old diesel bobtail for a new propane bobtail and allowing school districts to retire old dirty diesel buses for new propane buses.

An estimated $34 million in grant funding will be available for this upcoming grant round. Grantees will receive a lesser amount of either:

  • Standardized grant amounts set by TCEQ; or
  • 90%of the incremental cost (the eligible costs associated with the qualifying vehicle minus a scrappage value).

One can find a summary of the upcoming TNGVGP grant round on the TNGVGP website

TCEQ requests comments on this grant no later than September 1, 2022.

Final requirements for TNGVGP projects will be published upon the program's opening. TPGA will share the final program information once the grant officially opens.

Please submit comments to: TERP-comments@tceq.texas.gov.
