chfa awards housing tax credits to support development of 1,300+ affordable apartments
CHFA is awarding a reservation of federal and state Housing Tax Credits to support the new construction or preservation of 1,373 affordable apartments in its 2021 second allocation round. These developments will seek to address various housing needs in many Colorado communities, including those located in Arvada, Aurora, Brighton Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Estes Park, Keystone, Limon, and Sheridan.
technical assistance granted to small-scale housing developments
CHFA announces second round of technical assistance awards to support small-scale affordable housing development. Technical assistance will be provided at no cost to support five development concepts.
chfa initiatives to support homeownership opportunities for communities of color
CHFA is working to advance equity and increase homeownership opportunities for Latino or Hispanic and Black or African American Coloradans through several outreach initiatives. In Colorado, 70 percent of White households are homeowners, while 50 percent of Latino or Hispanic households are homeowners, and 40 percent of Black or African American households are homeowners. CHFA is working to help address these disparities.
grant funding opportunities available from partner organizations 
The Colorado Office of Health Equity is accepting applications for grant funding to support community organizations’ in their development of local plans and capacity to influence the health of underrepresented communities. The deadline to apply is December 1, 2021. 
Enterprise Community Partners is accepting applications for the Section 4 Capacity Building Grant. Funding will support technical and administrative capacity of Community Development Corporations and Community Housing Development Organizations to carry out community development and affordable housing activities. The deadline to apply is December 10, 2021.
homeowner tool barn program launches
A new resource is launching in parts of Colorado called a “tool barn,” which offers homeowners various home maintenance and repair tools for rent. CHFA was proud to invest $75,000 to support this initiative.
golfers raise $75,000 to support second chance center 
CHFA’s annual David W. Herlinger Golf Tournament raised $75,000 for Second Chance Center, Inc. (SCC) on September 29, 2021. SCC's mission is to help formerly incarcerated people transition to lives of success and fulfillment. SCC’s comprehensive housing program includes emergency shelter, transitional housing, affordable workforce housing, and Permanent Supportive Housing.
chfa social media campaign to benefit family intercultural and resource center
Like It Forward is CHFA’s annual social media campaign to benefit Colorado nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFA’s mission to invest in affordable housing and community development. Like It Forward 2021 benefits the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC), which serves Summit County families by providing education and financial resources. The campaign begins November 29th.

  • Rhonda’s Place, Denver
  • Valor on the Fax, Denver
