New strains, new restrictions, new mandates. Ugh!! Look, I know we all want to move past the Covid-19 strains and potential new restrictions. As far as CACM is concerned, we are in fact moving forward with planning our in-person events. Of course we will be following the state, local and venue-specific guidelines and restrictions, and we will make sure we communicate with sponsors and attendees if any changes occur or restrictions prevent in-person events as directed by the state, local region or venue. We’re not there yet, and hopefully we won’t get there. But we are prepared to pivot yet again if it’s necessary.

Events continue to be impacted by this pandemic. The reality is that this pandemic will be around for some time to come. We, as a society of professionals in the people and personality management business, need to respect someone’s challenges and concerns regarding in-person events, social distancing and masks. That’s who we are. That’s what we do. We are NOT in the business of discounting someone’s opinions (okay, putting aside the often-fun posts and memes on Facebook’s SoCal and NorCal HOA…good times). But that respect and appropriate consideration needs to include those people that are interested in getting back to in-person events.

So, while we continue to offer all courses online, we also continue to plan in-person events, starting with the Fall Forums, followed by the High-Rise & Large-Scale Summit in Sonoma, followed by multiple golf tournaments and holiday parties. We are also planning to pivot as necessary. We have to plan two paths to follow.

Covid-19 being in the rearview mirror is a process, but education in our industry is important. Legislative impacts from Covid-19 and now the Surfside condo collapse are important. And let’s not forget that YOU are the most important. Do what you need to do for you, and let’s respect everyone else’s perspective.

I look forward to “seeing” you very soon.
