Summer is HERE!

We had a great month of May with the grand opening of our new office and then the Spring Art Walk! With over 50+ vendors in downtown Delafield and a 80's cover band- despite the sprinkles, the event was great! June at the Delafield Chamber means we are gearing up for the Delafield Block Party on July 9th and 10th. A big thank you to our Presenting Sponsor: Steven Paul Designs and our many other sponsors.

Block Party includes two nights of beer, music and great local food! On Friday enjoy Road Crew then The Now and Saturday you can enjoy Rebel Grace followed by The Toys! Enjoy great food by 10 local restaurants!

Did you see our awesome new apparel? You can come into the Chamber office to purchase some for yourself! The design was done by a local artist! We love them! We have t-shirts, sweatshirts and tanks! More information below.

NEW! 2021-2022 City Tins will be out end of June! Many new restaurants were added and the tin is awesome. These make really good gifts as well! These can be purchased on our website or you can stop into the office to purchase.

Remember to shop local! Delafield has so many awesome boutiques and stores on 83 and Downtown! Be sure to check them out!
Summer is finally here! Additionally, many health mandates are also relaxing. It is time to get out and back into life, vising with friends, neighbors and other community members. You can almost feel the anticipation mounting!
Although we all look forward to return to some semblance of “normal” it is important to do so safely:
• While driving, be aware of your surroundings, motorists need to obey speed restrictions and share the roadway with pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Wear your seatbelt and make sure all passengers do as well. Utilize a designated driver if you plan to consume alcoholic beverages.
• If you are riding a motorcycle, wear eye protection and drive defensively. • Pedestrians need to be aware when crossing streets and walk on roadways against (facing) traffic.
• Bicyclists need to obey traffic regulations, including stop signs.
• Show each other some basic level of respect.
Respecting each other and our individual right to be safe in the community we share will aid significantly in the ability for everyone to enjoy this summer. This also is relevant in terms of all aspects of our individual lives. Show respect and you will be more likely to receive respect, despite individual opinions, differences or any other factor.
Enjoy the summer, but give others the opportunity to do so, as well!

With the warm weather upon us, many of our local residents will hit the local lakes and rivers. Here are some important safety tips to remember before you go out.
Boating Laws and Safety Courses
  • Take time to review the current boating regulations on the Wisconsin DNR website and direct others who may be driving a boat or PWC to do the same.
  • Regardless of your current age, if you were born after January 1, 1989, you must take a WI DNR approved boater safety course before you can operate a boat or PWC.
Required Equipment and PFDs
  • For kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, you must have a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation device (PFD) on board and preferably be wearing it. Over 90% of on-water fatalities occur to those not wearing a PFD.
  • For personal watercraft, you must be wearing an approved PFD at all times.
  • For all boats 16 feet and longer, you need to have an approved PFD for each person onboard and one approved throwable device.
  • Have a fire extinguisher and be sure it is charged and you know how to use it.
  • Have operable boat lights and test them before going out.
  • Keep emergency supplies on board in a floating pouch with at least a charged cellphone, maps, flares (or a whistle for smaller craft) and a first aid kit.
Prepare and Be Smart
  • Watch the weather forecast and be sure you have weather alert notifications set on your phone should unexpected storms occur.
  • Let others know your plans with estimated departure and return times.
  • Follow proper distancing when on the water. This includes staying far from other craft, piers, and the shoreline and reducing speed when needed.
  • Watch for buoys and other markers indicating Slow No Wake and Swim Areas or marking underwater hazards

As always, if you are in danger or see others needing emergency assistance or causing issues on the water, call 911 with the type of issue, approximate location (use on-shore landmarks, known islands, bays, or inlets), description and type boat, and the number of passengers on board.

Lake Country Fire & Rescue along with neighboring departments have multiple watercraft units and dive teams that respond to on-water emergencies. Above all: have fun, be smart, and stay safe!
