Hello Cen-Den Families:
As the snow starts to disappear and the temperatures start to warm, most of us have started to feel a bit of spring fever. I can feel it in the energy that our students have as they anticipate getting outside and when they come in from recess. Ahhh…the battle of keeping winter gear on their little bodies when it is only 40 degrees outside and there is still snow on the ground! We would sure appreciate your help with this. Please remind your child that our guideline for not wearing a coat at recess includes a “feels like” temperature of 60 degrees or more. We get some very chilly and windy days during these spring months.
Spring is also a time when we become more aware of growth, both in nature and in our students. Parent/Teacher conferences offered the opportunity for you to celebrate your child’s growth with his or her teacher. Communication is an important part of understanding your child’s progress. If you didn’t have the opportunity to meet, please contact your child’s teacher to set up a time to connect.
This year, our third graders will be taking the Wisconsin FORWARD Exam. This battery of tests will measure mastery in Reading, Language Arts, and Math. The test has a format of multiple-choice and short answer questions. It is an online assessment that will be given mid-April. Rest assured that our third grade teachers will spend time preparing the students with practice questions and other test-taking strategies throughout the month of April. More details will be shared as that testing window draws near.
As I move in and out of classrooms throughout the building lately, I was noticing the growth spurt that some of our students have gone through…so much taller and less baby-looking. However, as I reflect on the months that have passed, I think the growth that I am most proud of has been in the area of character development. I am so proud of the choices that our students make on a daily basis. Our teachers work very hard to support good character choices and it has surely paid off. Simple things, such as picking up a pencil that was dropped by a classmate or walking appropriately in the hallway, will definitely serve as the building blocks of strong character for when the choices that they need to make become more difficult.
Please take time to enjoy the growth that comes with the change of the season, but more so, be sure to celebrate the growth in your child.
Proudly,
Mrs. Becky Buhler

Here are a few helpful hints regarding winter gear and school:
Stretchy gloves are wonderful, but they get wet very quickly. Having a couple extra pairs of gloves in their backpack can help to ensure that your child has warm, dry hands.
Wet feet can also be a problem. An extra pair of socks in their backpack will also be helpful in keeping your child warm and dry throughout the day.
PLEASE…BE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD’S NAME IS ON THEIR GEAR. It is difficult to keep track of which black snowpants belong to which child when nearly every student has very similar black snowpants.
It is important for you to know that we go outside for recess when the “feels like temperatures” are 0 degrees or above. You can see why winter gear is important.

Dear Lake Geneva Schools Families,
Lake Geneva Food Service is participating in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year. This means that our schools provide free meals to all students! This program provides additional support and flexibility for our district to continue serving meals to children while maintaining safety measures and managing the impacts of the COVI D-19 pandemic.
Included in the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are nationwide supply chain and product availability shortages. Disruptions are due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer food products. Some food and/or beverage products normally provided to students may not be available or arrive as scheduled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last-minute menu changes and product substitutions may occur. Be assured meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful. We ask for patience and understanding as we do our best to meet the needs of your children.
Sincerely,
Jaclyn Sanders
Food Service Coordinator
