LIBRARY EVENT A SUCCESS!

Thanks to the St. Joe County Library and especially education specialist Tré Goodhue for the fun event on Afghanistan culture on July 30! We had great attendance and the chance to highlight two important employers, Lock Joint Tube and Techniplas!

ST PAT'S PARK FUN EVENING

THIS SATURDAY

August 13; 5-7 p.m.

The URC will host a picnic and fun at St. Patrick's County Park on Saturday, Aug 13. The event is a social event with the refugee families, sponsor groups and those interested in learning more about future involvement with refugee resettlement. Park entry is free, and we will be at a site near the big barn along the rivers. See flyer below; URC will provide appropriate main dish food, and you are encouraged to bring something to share (avoid pork products, please!) and your own drinks. For info or to let us know you are coming, please email Ludy McCollester;

IMMIGRANT STORY TELLING WORKSHOP

August 21, 2022

South Bend Civic Theatre

With support from the Indiana Arts Commission and a partnership with the South Bend Civic Theatre, the URC and Welcoming Michiana will provide a workshop on storytelling for immigrants.

The first event will be on Sunday, August 21, 3-5 p.m. at SBCT, 403 N. Main, South Bend.

URC has asked a few folks whose stories of arrival, adjustment, departure from their homelands, or any poignant story might help the broader community to understand their backgrounds. The opportunity to tell those stories to a local audience will take place at community events, including Best.Week.Ever.

If you are someone of immigrant roots and think you have a story to tell, please join us!
