Progress on Selecting TBC's Action Agenda for 2022-2023

PLEASE VOTE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!

At Rosh Hashanah Services many members voted in person with the "action labels" that came with HHD tickets. It was a great turnout -- thank you to all who participated!

If you didn't get a chance to vote then, the posters and voting 'ballots' will be available in the TBC Lobby through Yom Kippur Services. You can also also review the 9 social action candidate focus areas along with some of the relevant activities we are thinking about by checking out the pdf version of the action areas HERE, and then voting using the form linked HERE! But please vote -- TBC needs your input and engagement to make this successful.

Amazing TBC Honey Tasting Oneg on Erev Rosh Hashanah

TBC Congregants who participated in Evev Services last Sunday night emerged from the sanctuary to a dazzlingly sweet vision -- an array of thirty-six types of honey from Australia to Jordan, made from blossoms from cranberries to tulip poplar, from the palest yellow to deep amber. We drizzled it onto the traditional challah and apples, visited with old friends and new ones, and some of us even dipped into a bit of mead. May the year before us be sweet!

Help Build & Decorate TBC's Sukkah - Saturday, October 8 @ 10:30 am

Come join us for TBC's Sukkah raising event! All are welcome to participate in building the Sukkah and making decorations.  Refreshments will be provided

Baxter Barenberg's Bar Mitzvah Project!

"I am going to be doing my mitzvah project with an organization called DIG USA. DIG stands for Determination, Integrity, Growth. It’s an organization that I've been involved with since I was 7 years old - that is almost half my life! It started with one coach/ owner named Dan, who has created this organization to help the underserved communities in CT learn to play both chess and soccer, creating both sports and educational opportunities. After one of my first chess lessons my Mom told me I had just helped give a free lesson to a less fortunate kid in a town like Bridgeport. DIG works on the lesson for lesson model, providing free lessons for every paid lesson, creating opportunities for all.

For my mitzvah project, I'm going to be raising money and gear for the Bridgeport United Girls Team, which is run by DIG. It is a free program open to the girls of Bridgeport. They need new uniforms and all gear. Contributions will accepted through 10/22/22, the date of my bar mitzvah."

Michael Heft Food Drive,

Miriam Messe Diaper Collection

It is time once again for the food and diaper drive to help local food banks. The items will be delivered to the Redding Food Pantry (Redding Food Pantry will only accept gift Cards - no food), Wilton Food Pantry, the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, and the Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut.

All of the pantries can use gift cards to grocery stores in addition to the items on the list. Personal care items are always in great need as well as toilet paper, paper towels and tissues. Coffee and juice boxes are needed for all pantries. Household cleaning products also. Items will be collected at Erev Yom Kippur, morning and family Yom Kippur services. Drivers will be needed after the second service to deliver to Wilton, Redding and Danbury. Please contact Jane Alexander at Jane@nodhill.net, 203-943-5819, to sign up to help or drive or if you have questions.

Please do not include items that are past the “best used by date”.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Ten Minutes of Torah!

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) provides rich resources for Torah study from a Reform perspective. Their Torah Study website includes "The Torah Explained," "Torah Portion Calendar" and an overview of each week's Torah portion.

In addition, several days a week, the URJ publishes Ten Minutes of Torah. Join the thousands of others who open their email to study a commentary on the week's Torah portion, read about a significant moment in Jewish history, connect with life in Israel, or learn about an upcoming holiday. In just ten minutes, you can add to your Jewish knowledge.
