Get ready for Credit Congress
You know something is great when we talk about it all year long.

We are especially excited about the 2021 Credit Congress — in Kansas City, October 10-13 — because it is right in our backyard. For most of our members, it is within easy driving distance, plus if you haven’t been to Kansas City, then you haven’t seen the Midwest at its best.

If you’re still thinking about whether you should attend, we thought we’d highlight some of the reasons we think this year’s event is a can’t miss.

1.   You can choose the certification track.
Certificate courses are presented in a five-day format, separate from all other educational breakout sessions. Participants must attend all five segments (30 hours) and successfully complete the exam offered on the last day (Wednesday, Oct. 13) to pass the course.

2.   There are breakout sessions with take-away actions.
Plus, you can earn CEUs for recertification. For example: Session 30018. How to Interpret Construction Contracts - Part 1 of 2.  General contracts and sub-contracts contain legal language that material supplier construction credit professionals must understand and sometimes mitigate. This session will cover some of the must-understand contract provisions such as flow-down clauses, incorporation by reference, precedence scope of work, contract value, change orders, time and schedules, claim waivers and limitations, payment (including pay when paid), consequential and liquidated damages, insurance indemnity, right to stop work, recordkeeping, and force majeure.

Or, are you interested in 30026. Building Revenue with the Sales Department? Heightened credit risks due to the pandemic has enhanced and strengthened relationships between sales and credit departments worldwide. Learn how the two departments are working closely as a united team to find the right balance between risk and sales. The speakers will outline steps for turning a no into a yes, and provide examples of how sales and credit teams have resolved key issues together.

3.  The Expo
There's an expo with vendors chosen specifically with the credit manager in mind.

4.   The Chiefs!
We are proud of our team. Check out information about our tailgate and watch party below.

Don’t want to miss out on the fun? There’s still time to register. Check out the official Credit Congress website for more information and to register.

Chiefs vs. Bills Tailgate
Sunday, October 10 | Arrowhead Stadium
Tailgate starts at 4 p.m. | Kickoff at 7:20 p.m.
NACM Heartland is planning a fun alternative to our traditional reception. On Sunday, October 10, join us for a free tailgate at Arrowhead Stadium before the Chiefs vs. Bills at 7:20 p.m. Tailgating festivities begin at 4 p.m. We still have a few tickets for the game available for purchase.

In addition to the tailgate, we will have a watch party at No Other Pub in the Power and Light District beginning at 6:30 p.m. These are two separate events, but you can attend both! The details:

  • You do not have to purchase a game ticket to attend the tailgate. The tailgate ends when the game begins, so if you don't have tickets join us at No Other Pub for the watch party.

  • Transportation to the tailgate or game will not be provided. Ztrip has a great service that will take you from the hotel to the stadium and back for about $10 each way. They will drop you off at the stadium near the tailgate. Uber and Lyft do not have the same access.

  • If you want to purchase tickets to the game, they are $220 for seats in section 316. These are available first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Maggie Bessenbacher for more information. These two teams met up in the AFC championship game last season, so we are expecting a great game!

Testimonial:
Investing in an invaluable credit tool
"I am greatly appreciative of the investment NACM Heartland makes in its credit exchange groups. I have found the information available through my group invaluable. The data itself helps provide insight into accounts that are starting to show stress. This gives us a “heads up” so we may stop a sale from happening to a customer that is past due with other creditors. In the past year, membership in my group credit group has also been especially important as we all worked through the challenges of the pandemic. Being able to communicate with credit professionals in the same industry helped us navigate an unprecedented time."
