FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN
At the September Vestry meeting, updates were shared on the Tyler Hall kitchen project, the technology upgrade, and the stewardship campaign. The technology upgrades are particularly exciting. We have a new alarm system that not only meets today’s standards in protecting our staff and facilities but also is significantly cheaper than our previous provider. Wi-fi is now available throughout the entire campus and installation of fiber internet, replacing the relay signal we currently use to obtain internet access, is potentially scheduled for mid-October. We have an updated proposal to fully upgrade the AV systems by the end of the year and, funded with a specific gift, will add goodies such as connectivity improvements for hearing aids, speakers for the Riverwalk and a mobile cart to project services held outdoors: internments, Palm Sunday, etc. A huge thank you is owed to Bill Ford and Elisabeth Price for managing this capital campaign project.

Monty Osteen presented, on behalf of the Finance Committee, the 2020 audit. There were no material findings and the process developed by our new auditors are valuable and welcome in the financial management of the Church.

We heard a report on our Invite, Welcome, Connect initiative that is coordinated by Vestry liaisons Claiborne Porubsky and Bryan Hawkins and led by parishioner Summer Bell. Summer is not only recruiting greeters but also asking us all to connect with newcomers and others to include and involve them into the life of the Church. Connecting newcomers in our church life enriches us with their many gifts, but more importantly, we hope folks find that here is a spiritual home for those looking to live out God’s word.

THE IRONMAN SUNDAY INFO YOU NEED
Traffic Instructions

Please welcome our visitors to Augusta and allow yourself a few extra minutes to get to church on Sunday.

The road closures are the same as previous years. As in past years, we recommend you travel 13th Street to Reynolds. One lane of Reynolds Street will remain open for you to travel both directions to and from the church.

Should you encounter officers directing traffic, let them know you are coming to Saint Paul's. They are aware of our activities and are happy to help you get where you need.

These two maps provide more information on the race course.

Episcopal Relief and Development
Hurricane Relief Fund
The Outreach Committee has voted to send $1000 to Episcopal Relief and Development's Hurricane Relief Fund. We will collect gifts from the parish for two Sundays and then will send a combined check from the people of Saint Paul's Monday, October 3. If you would like to add your gift, please make your check payable to Saint Paul's Church with a notation ERD Hurricane Fund. Online gifts may be made on our website. (Choose Outreach Fund and Episcopal Relief and Development Sub-fund).

Episcopal Relief & Development is in contact with Episcopal and Anglican partners in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the US Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos in response to Hurricane Fiona. Gifts help the Episcopal Relief & Development partners and dioceses reach vulnerable communities devastated by Hurricane Fiona and other catastrophic storms. As they continue to assess ongoing needs in impacted areas, your urgent gift will enable us to respond now — and in the long run to aid in recovery.

More information on the important work Episcopal Relief and Development' does at home and abroad can be found on their website.

Godly Play
Grades PK- 4th Grade
Saint Patrick's Room - Children's Ministry Center
ALL children inherently know God, but it is up to us to give them the language of the Christian faith so they can grow to make meaning of our faith in their own lives. Godly Play is a profound method rooted in Montessori principles that forms child spirituality by attending to their natural gifts for wonder and discovery. We cannot wait to welcome your children each Sunday!

Contact Kim Butler for more information.

Saint Benedict's Room - Children's Ministry Center
Middle School Formation returns to "Look at the Gospels" and engage with the stories. Week after week, the children and their leaders gather together, explore the Scriptures, enjoy one another's company, pray, and discover God's presence in their midst.

Sunday Forum
Sundays 9:30 AM, The Chapel, This Sunday only
Please note the change of location
Join us as we continue our fall formation series on 1 Corinthians. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians shows Paul trying to pastor a young, gifted, divided church from afar. Drawing on some of the leading commentators on Paul, we’ll read together to see how he addressed problems and promise in Corinth, and how this might apply to us today. If you’re both talented and imperfect, or belong to a community that is talented and imperfect, this bible study is for you.
EYC (grades 6-12)
At the Cheer Station
Sunday, 12 Noon-4 PM
Meet us at the front gates of Saint Paul’s and let’s cheer our Ironman runners on! Saint Paul’s is located at the halfway mark of the run course. The run is the last leg of the event, and the athletes are exhausted by the time they pass us. We are there to share God’s love and encourage them with signs, music, popsicles, ice, and lots of cheers and high fives. It is such a rewarding and fun volunteer opportunity, and the athletes say we help get them to the finish line! We will have food for our cheer team and guarantee a good time! For more information, contact Kim Butler.

Lectio at Lunch

Join us for lunch and a Bible study – we've made it easy!

This small group format begins with lunch. As we continue sharing a meal, three biblical lessons are read by aloud by members of the group, followed by a reflection from Brian McLaren’s We Make the Road by Walking. We conclude our time together engaging with the reflection. Much of the work of the Holy Spirit in formation is in forming relationship. As the title suggests we make the road by walking together. We invite you to join this small group as your schedule allows.

You may bring your own lunch or share in the meal provided. This week’s menu: Sliders with homemade chicken salad, pimento cheese, and egg salad; crudités; cinnamon apple coffee cake; tea and water A lunch RSVP is required by midnight Tuesday: online or by email to Kitty Gordon, and donations are requested to cover the cost of lunch each week.
