SCARECROWS IN THE PARK VIEWING

Traditionally, we try to visit the Scarecrows in the Park on Literary Character Day when all students are dressed in their costumes as well. However, due to the predicted rain, we decided to do our Scarecrow Viewing & Lunch at Kellogg Park yesterday. Pictured below are our students with the Astronaut scarecrow they helped dress.

THANK YOU TO SPARCler PARENTS AND PARTICIPANTS

1st Parent Support Forum

A big thank you to the Styke family business, Dodge Centerless Grinding Co., for donating the "thank-you" gift for our guest speaker, Kristin Cotts, last night, and thank you to our SPARC Chair, Michelle Tan, for providing the thank-you card. Many thanks to our panel consisting of Kiyo Morse, Donna Coffin, and Michelle Belt. Last but not least, thank you to all the parents who participated in last night’s discussion regarding the Academic, Social, and Emotional Needs of gifted children.

These events were created as a way for parents of gifted children to support each other and are not restricted to parents of enrolled Steppingstone students. They are planned to address topics of interest to all parents of gifted children. Like the education of gifted children, the parenting of gifted children is often unique and being able to speak to parents who share the challenges provides relief in the knowledge that we aren’t the only ones facing the challenges. It’s also nice to share thoughts and experiences with others who understand and often have faced similar circumstances.

Our next SPARCler session will be on Thursday, January 30th regarding “Reflective Parenting” with Dr. Ira Glovinsky.

GUESS WHO?!

Literary Character Day

Literary Character Day—it’s finally here! Students are dressed as characters from their "secret" Power Reading books for October, each inspired by this year’s genre: BIOGRAPHY or AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Can you guess who they’re portraying? Look closely at their props for extra clues! Head to our Facebook page to check your guesses and see the "big reveal".
