2021 AACI/CCAF Annual Meeting: Day 2 Overview
Today’s program kicked off with a keynote from
Distinguished Scientist Award recipient,
Dr. Judy E. Garber. Dr. Garber was recognized for her breakthrough research on the treatment of triple-negative or basal-like breast cancer; she described advances in research in clinical cancer genetics during her lecture.
Additional sessions covered topics such as adapting clinical trials to the changing needs of patients; an overview of AACI presidential initiatives from former AACI president, Dr. Karen E. Knudsen, and current president, Dr. Caryn Lerman; highlights of the research being conducted at AACI’s basic cancer centers; and updates on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Centers Program.
The day also featured an awards ceremony in which the
Champion for Cures Award was presented to
Sidney and Caroline Kimmel and the inaugural
Cancer Health Equity Award was presented to
Dr. Robert A. Winn.
Dr. Robert T. Croyle was also recognized for years of service to the NCI.
Day 2 closed with a vendor presentation by
Florence,
Derisking the Move to eConsent as a Cancer Institute.
