Older and wiser
The Scotland House, an adult day program in Quechee, serves 60+ adults in VT and NH. Three out of four seniors who visit pay nothing, says Simeon Morrow, host of Around Woodstock. "Most people don't realize this kind of service is available. Many people in our area could use adult day," says Executive Director Eric Fritz.

Horray for Hollywood
Local performers took the stage for the raucous Movie Magic Talent Show at White River's Main Street Museum, and JAM was there. Natalie Norris shared her graphic novel "Dear Mini." Chico Eastridge with his deep bass voice played piano, and Jordyn Fitch did a staged reading of their screenplay NAME TK.

Well-rooted in VT
"What is it like to be a tree?" asks John Snell, chair of Montpelier's Tree Board in this OSHER lecture "So Many Reasons to Love Trees." Settlers clear cut 50 percent of VT's tree cover. Now forests cover 80 percent of the state. Snell's talk focuses on tree identification, invasive species, and how to determine a tree's age.

Acclaimed poet Vievee Francis brings a “Night of Poetry & Black Music” and book release reading from her new work, The Shared World to JAM. Her latest collection imagines the ideas and ideals and spaces of the Black woman, delving into inherited memories and restrictions between families, lovers, and strangers and the perception and inconvenient truth of Black woman as mother—with or without child. | |
