Cardinals Stay Connected

Greetings Megan,

New this year, we will be implementing a Cardinal eNewsletter for all our families, staff, students, and any community members that wish to subscribe. It is free and will be a great way for our families and community to stay connected to all things Cardinals! Please help us in sharing our eNewsletter with your family, friends, and neighbors.

Thank you,

Tim Prom, Annandale Public Schools Superintendent

Annandale Elementary CARES

The Annandale Elementary School core values are cooperation, assertion, respect, empathy and self-control otherwise known as C.A.R.E.S. Classrooms discuss, learn and review each value on a five week rotation. Week one of school students and staff (Cardinals) focus on Cooperation. In Week 25 Cardinals are focused on Self Control. Do you know what Cardinals will be focused on during Week 30? Empathy.. As opportunities arise throughout the day, week and year staff are working with students focusing their instruction and learning around C.A.R.E.S. Values.

The Nest: Our Book Vending Machine

Friday, September 16, our Elementary School had a ribbon cutting ceremony, for “The Nest” which is a vending machine that will dispense a book of choice! This "vending machine" is now located in our AES Cardinal Cafe! It will not accept money, only tokens that are given out by staff members, to our students, for demonstrating AES C.A.R.E.S. values and academic growth.

Thank you to the Annandale Lion's Club, for donating "The Nest" and to our other donors the Friends of the Library, our anonymous donor, and the Annandale PTO for supporting reading literacy for all our students.

Our goal is to get books into as many students' hands as possible. With that being said, we need to start small and build our way up. We will re-evaluate midyear to assess the progress of our goals. The more tokens we can get to our teachers, the better! Once our book balance grows, we'll incorporate more ways for students to receive tokens.
