Happy Friday,
Even though it was a short week we've packed a lot of learning in! As I've visited classrooms I continue to be impressed with our Westmoor Bulldogs and their perseverance and growth. This week students 2-5 finished fall MAP testing. MAP and Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) reports are scheduled to be mailed home on October 17.
Our fabulous PTO volunteers have been hard at work planning for the Bulldog Bash. It looks like we are going to have beautiful fall weather! Thanks to all our volunteers that have signed up to help out at the event. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, October, 1!
The parent/teacher conferences scheduling portal opened yesterday. If you haven't scheduled a conference time yet please do so soon! The portal closes on Monday, October 10 at 7 pm.

Halloween Celebration Information
We are hoping for a warm Halloween! For our celebration at Westmoor, children need to come to school in the morning in school-appropriate costumes. They will be wearing costumes all day so please make sure it's a comfortable costume that can be worn throughout the day. Weapons of any kind (light sabers or swords, for example) are not allowed. Masks are allowed for the parade but will need to be removed during classroom activities. Please see the Halloween Parade Map for the neighborhood route we will take on Halloween. Come out to see us parade throughout the neighborhood. The parade will begin at 2:15pm with parties following at 2:45pm. In the event of inclement weather on Halloween, the parade will be canceled.

PICTURE DAY PREVIEWS
You will receive an email on Thursday, October 6 from Picture Day with your student's picture preview. All 1st round orders are due on Tuesday, October 18th and any orderswill be sent home with your student on Friday, November 18th. If you are unhappy with your student's picture, please sign up for a retake with the company - CLICK HERE AND email [email protected] to let us know at the school too. Picture retake day will be on Wednesday, October 19. Previews for retake day will be emailed home on 11/9.

ABSENCE REPORTING - Absent, Coming in Late, Leaving Early
If your child will be absent, late to school due to an appointment, or leaving early - please email [email protected] and the teacher in one email. The wmattendance email notifies the office staff as well as our school nurse. Please report any absence before 9:00am. Also any change in after school plans should be reported to the office and the teacher by 2:00pm. After that, we cannot guarantee we can relay the message.

Give a Cookie, Get a Cookie with Shookies Cookies!!
We are showing our teachers and staff some love with our Give a Cookie, Get a Cookie event! You can buy a cookie for your child (given out at lunch on October 12th), and also buy a cookie for a teacher or staff member! There are 4 flavors of cookies to choose from, and a gluten free option as well!
Shookies Cookies is a female owned, local bakery – and most importantly, their cookies are delicious! Each cookie is $3.50, and you can purchase it here BY OCTOBER 4TH:

Bulldog Bash!
It looks like it will be a BEAUTIFUL day for the Bulldog Bash on Saturday!! We are so excited for the return of this event and we cannot wait to see you there! It will be held from 11:00 – 1:00 on the Westmoor Blacktop!

Teacher Raffle!
A huge THANK YOU for such an enthusiastic response to our Teacher Raffle! So far, we have raised over $5,800 for the PTO, which will go to support teachers and programming for the kids!
If you missed the deadline, you can bring cash to the Bulldog Bash to buy raffle tickets! Each raffle ticket is $5, or you can buy 5 tickets for $20! We will not be accepting any more paper packets.
Winners will be drawn at the Bulldog Bash! (You do not need to be present to win)

Conference Registration Opened Sept. 29
Parent-teacher conferences will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 12 and from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 13. Parents will have the choice to schedule in-person or virtual conferences.
Parents should have received login information to register for conferences from Data Specialist Dustin Anand on 8 a.m Tuesday, September 27. All parents need this information to schedule a conference. The scheduler portal opened at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 29. The portal will close at 7 p.m. Monday, October 10.
COVID Dashboard
The district is maintaining a COVID Dashboard to report average cases per day by school and weekly averages districtwide. This information is updated daily.

GBN Boys Feeder Basketball Tryouts
Tryouts for GBN Boys Feeder Basketball team will be held Oct. 12 & 13 at Solomon Schecter Day School, 3210 Dundee Road from 6 to 7 p.m for 3rd and 4th grade and from 7 to 8 p.m. for 5th grade.

Registration Open for Spring Softball
Registration is now open for the Northbrook Girls Softball Spring 2023 House League Season! NGSA’s House League accepts girls in 2nd through 9th grade regardless of experience or ability. GBN Orchesis Hosts Dance Clinic
Students in grades 1-8 are invited to a day of dancing followed by a parent showcase with the Glenbrook North Orchesis Club on Oct.16.

Northbrook Symphony Present Family Concert
The Northbrook Symphony presents its opening concert of the 43rd season on Sunday, October 16, at 4 p.m. under the direction of Music Director Mina Zikri.
The concert venue is the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts at 2300 Shermer Rd., Northbrook.
