JRB FINANCIAL PULSE
October 2021 — Issue #49
A Word from the CEO

At the beginning of the month, I planned to write about market volatility — how the Dow and Nasdaq declined in the 3rd quarter (the S&P 500 eked out a 0.2% gain). These were the first declines in these indices since the first quarter of 2020.

Then the markets rebounded and I realized that the message is not about market volatility, it's about asset allocation. According to a prominent study, over 90% of long-term investment performance is determined by the mix of assets you own rather than market timing or manager selection. To see if your asset allocation is appropriate for your goals, please contact us to set up a Complimentary Financial Consultation.

Bond investments play an important role in a diversified portfolio. To learn more about the bond mutual funds the JRB offers, see our article exploring this topic. You can invest in a wide range of government, corporate and mortgage backed bonds through the JRB.

The Social Security Administration announced a 5.9% COLA (cost of living adjustment) for Social Security beneficiaries beginning in January 2022, the largest increase in years. Our article also details changes in the earnings limits and the amount of earnings subject to Social Security taxes.

Finally, please note that our Fall Israel Bonds Offering begins next week. Watch your email for more information.
