Our Mission: To serve individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities and hardship by providing equine assisted activities and therapies
to empower, inspire, nurture and succeed.
GOING ONCE . . . GOING TWICE . . . GOING ONLINE!
Our Jockeys & Juleps Fall Silent Auction is almost here!

We're coming down the home stretch and still collecting auction items -
so it's not too late to donate. All auction proceeds help us keep our lesson fees low so children and adults with disabilities can experience incredible moments of joy working with our horses, and with your help, we can continue to celebrate the ABILITY of all.

How you can help!

  • Donate Auction Items: We are gladly accepting gift cards, experiences and activities, wine and spirits, furnishings, jewelry, event tickets, art and collectibles, and more through Wednesday, October 27. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible and will make a BIG difference for all the people we serve.

  • Contact Us to Schedule Pick Up: Don't know how to get your auction donation to us? CONTACT US - We'll come get it!

  • Purchase an Item from our Auction Wish List: Want to lend your support but don't have anything to give? EASY! We have put together a list of items with links to purchase. Your donation can be shipped directly to us - or we'll be happy to pickup! CLICK HERE for items you can purchase and donate to the auction with just a few clicks.

  • Ask a Friend or Business to Donate: Know someone who might be able to give an auction item? GREAT! Our Auction Donation Form can be found HERE or contact Jordan.Walker@southernreins.org for more information.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SOUTHERN REINS!
We are thrilled to have the support of these great organizations who help our program in such a tremendous way:
Southern Reins is proud to be an EQUUS Foundation Guardian, and we are grateful for the recent grant award to contribute to the care of our amazing team of therapy horses. To learn more about the incredible work they do, CLICK HERE.
We recently received a generous gift from the Collierville Community Fund to help fund renovations to our arena footing. This donation will allow us to level the surface and add sand to improve drainage, reduce dust and enhance safety for our horses, volunteers and staff. Orrion Farms is committed to giving back a portion of every horse they sell to support equine-related charities. This year we received a donation in the name of Cedar Ridge Arabians to support the services we provide to people with disabilities and hardship throughout our community.
STAFF ANNOUNCEMENT
Please join us in welcoming our new
Director of Development and Communications, Jordan Walker!

Jordan was born and raised in East Texas but has proudly called Memphis home since 2014. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Central Arkansas and her Masters of Public Administration and Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Philanthropy from the University of Memphis. Jordan is passionate about the nonprofit sector here in Memphis, and she previously worked for West Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society before joining the Southern Reins’ team. She is an active volunteer for the Junior League of Memphis, Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, and 901 POP.

Jordan joined the staff of Southern Reins in October of 2021 and is excited to contribute to serving individuals with special needs and their families while reigniting her childhood love of horses. She and her husband William live in East Memphis with their two pets.

Welcome aboard Jordan . . . we're so glad to have you on our team!
EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT UPDATE
As part of earning the rank of Eagle Scout,
Houston High School Senior Tommy Walls built two halter huts for Southern Reins to protect our horse's halters and lead ropes from the elements while they are turned out in their pastures.

Tommy also raised more than $1,500 to support the project and our program. "The path to Eagle has been a major part of my life for the past 11 years. I am excited for the opportunity to serve Southern Reins and earn the rank of Eagle."

Thank you, Tommy, for your support of
our mission, and congratulations on this
well-deserved achievement!
VOLUNTEER WITH US
Spend your weekday afternoons at Southern Reins!

We have a busy fall session and are looking for new volunteers age 14 and up to help with lessons on Mondays at 4:30, Tuesdays at 5:30, and Fridays at 3:30 and 4:30. We will provide individual training so you don't have to wait for our next New Volunteer Orientation.

Help people with disabilities, have fun with our horses and fellow volunteers, and enjoy the cooler temperatures outside! Contact Meredith Massa at meredith.massa@southernreins.org for more information, and please spread the word to anyone who might be interested!

We look forward to seeing you at the farm soon.
CHECK OUT OUR SUMMER SESSION PHOTOS!
Our 10-Week Summer Session concluded at the end of September, and we captured some amazing moments at the farm. We appreciate our incredible volunteers for enduring the heat (with a mask, no less!) so that our participants can continue to work toward achieving their goals.

CLICK HERE to visit our Summer Session Facebook Album to view all the smiles and joy made possible through the healing power of horses.
NEW ENTRANCE UPDATE
We would like everyone to begin using the new entrance to the farm located on Billy Bryant Road just past the original entrance.

This will be our main entrance for all participants, volunteers, and guests until our final entrance off Macon Road is complete.
As a reminder, please drive 30MPH or less on Billy Bryant Road.

We also ask everyone to please be sure to drive
NO MORE THAN 10MPH on our property
to ensure the safety of participants, horses, and pedestrians. Thank you!
