A Message from the Vice Provost

Last April, we welcomed Dr. Stacey Muse to our team as the director of engagement. Bringing Stacey on was a response to what we heard from over 100 public, private, and non-profit constituents in the Sacramento region points of entry for collaboration are unclear, navigating the university can be challenging, and people are often unaware of the diverse resources UC Davis has to offer. Overall, there was a clear message about the importance of creating platforms to connect with many communities.

Since joining the team, Stacey has been meeting with internal and external constituents to identify ways to increase access to the University. This has led to Community Campus Connect, a new service that will be launched by June 2021, which aims to clarify pathways of engagement and facilitate academic-based collaborations. If you’re interested in learning more about this effort to support community engagement at UC Davis, Stacey has written a blog about the proposed service.

It is exciting to see UC Davis realizing its public mission in new ways, becoming an active partner in regional change and local impact in Sacramento and beyond. Community Campus Connect promises to be a vital starting point for members of the public and UC Davis scholars to imagine what can be created, together.
