Peter Jacobson | Small Things Can Make a Big Difference
Over the years, we have done projects of virtually every size, shape, and form for our clients. However, one does not have to build a castle, raise the roof, or invest in a complete makeover to make a difference in where they live…..or work. Our own company has experienced both side of that coin.
Years ago, we made a BIG impact on our company by adding a two-story addition to our office building in Excelsior. At that time, we needed space for a growing office staff for our growing company. There was a need and yes, it had a BIG impact. It was a dramatic change , gave us space to grow and set us up for the future. It was the right thing for the time.
Recently, we completed a much smaller effort to our working environment by repainting the interior finishes and changing the carpeting throughout the building. Preparations, planning and implementation for these changes in an office environment can be daunting. Deciding on what to save, recycle or throw away. Planning , scheduling, furniture moving and dealing with surprises. Even though it’s what we do, it’s still challenging… but it was worth it!
The change has been dramatic in a visual sense , but more importantly, it has influenced the energy in the building , staff and company. One can feel it when you walk thru the door, you can sense it in our staff’s enthusiastic response to their space. The takeaway from it all is that small things matter.
Small things can make a BIG difference…. in unforeseen ways!

Have a good one.

Pete

Talking Shop with J&B Wood Products
Written by: Derek Wilkinson

27 Years of Quality Craftsmanship and it Shows

I had the unique opportunity to stop by the shop of J&B Wood Products and watch owner Rick Butterfield as he used his “timesaver” or giant table sander to the lay person, to make some finishing touches to the woodwork. Up until this visit, I’ve only had the experience of seeing the finished product at the end of a remodel project. It was truly interesting to get some time to chat with Rick and learn more about how he and his team take all of these fine pieces of wood and transform them into the quality cabinetry that they offer.
From Start to Finish
When comparing the materials used at the start of a cabinetry project to the finished products, it is clear to see the high level of skill and craftsmanship put into each piece.
Trending | Sunbrella - Shade Structures
“We’ve been bringing the indoors out for a while now, and one of the best ways to accomplish that from a functional perspective is to introduce shade structures like awnings. We see more people making plans for this, as outdoor renovations continue to be a priority as we approach 2022. Aesthetically pleasing shade structures like awnings not only provide comforting protection from the sun, but also help make an outdoor space feel more connected and beautiful. Look for fabrics with the seal of recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation, which recognizes safe and effective U.V. sun protection.” —Kirk Fitzsimmons, director of industrial sales at Sunbrella
