IMPORTANT DATES:

January 17: Remote learning day for grades 6-8, half day for grades Pre-k-5.

January 20: No School. MLK holiday. Volunteer opportunity - see below!

January 24: HSA Bingo night. Details below.

January 26-31: Catholic Schools Week - more details to come.

February 14: Remote learning day for grades 6-8, half day for grades Pre-k-5

February 17: No School. President's Day.


School pick-up and drop off: Please do not park in the First Presbyterian School/Church parking lot during either of these times. Utilize street parking along 4th and 5th streets, please.


*N.C. OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS open in February so be on the lookout for information in the next newsletter.


Honoring Dr. King's legacy

In honor of MLK Jr holiday, HSA will be hosting a service opportunity at Sister Issac Center January 20th 10-11:15 a.m.


Students are invited to help make bag lunches for guests of the Sister Issac Center. Click here to sign up to donate supplies for the lunches or to help volunteer.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD


  • The teams competed in the Boyceville National Invitational in December. While the overall pool was 170 teams, our division included 30 Varsity Teams. The JV teams were labeled as Exhibition only. For a full list of results, click here.
  • Congratulations to our top Varsity Finishes: 
  • 10th place, Anatomy: Zoe TenBrink and Court Yarnoz
  • 5th place, Scrambler: Valentina Butler and Berk Reed
  • 3rd place, Write It, Do It: Valentina Butler and Zoe TenBrink
  • 2nd place, Metric Mastery: Greyson Jansen and Elliott Hartman
  • The Varsity SMSO team will travel to NC State for its first IN PERSON invitational
  • When: JANUARY 18, 2025
  • Time: 7am - 6pm
  • Where: NC State University, Raleigh
  • What: All events will be tested on a state block schedule (6 blocks), including builds
  • To do: All Varsity parents should make travel arrangements and complete the permission form
  • MANDATORY PACKING PRACTICE FOR VARSITY STUDENTS WEDNESDAY JANUARY 15
  • SMSO Regionals is March 8th, 2025 at UNCW. Clear you calendars!
  • SMSO States is April 25-26, 2025 at NC State University. Varsity teams by invitation only!

Battle of the Books!

Leading up to our Regional competition in March, Battle of the Books for grades 6-8 will meet EVERY MONDAY from 3-3:30 p.m. in the library.

Mandatory Volunteer Hours!


In case you missed it, this year all families are required to contribute a minimum of 10 volunteer hours to their choice of St. Mary school/HSA activities.

FROM THE BOOSTER CLUB:

We’re thrilled to announce a special basketball game on Wednesday, January 22nd!  This game will be extra special as we celebrate our graduating athletes at intermission and honor their incredible contributions to Falcon sports. Join us for an unforgettable evening of excitement, school spirit, and Falcon pride! Let’s pack the stands and cheer on our teams while we show our seniors the love and support they deserve.



Mark your calendars on Friday February 7th from 5 PM - 10 PM at the Scapegoat in Leland, NC for an exciting night of fundraising for Falcon Athletics! In addition to raffles and live music, we're hosting several 50/50 fundraisers:

  • $10 50/50: Winner gets $500, Falcon Sports gets $500 - Drawing at 6pm (100 tickets available)
  • $20 50/50: Winner gets $1000, Falcon Sports gets $1000 - Drawing at 9pm (100 tickets available)
  • $100 50/50: Winner gets $1000, Falcon Sports gets $1000 (if all squares sold - only 20 tickets available!)
  • Squares are first come, first served, and we only have one month to fill them up, so act fast!
  • You do not have to be present to win.
  • Our goal is to raise $4000 - $1500 more than last year! 100% of the proceeds benefit Falcon Athletics. Go Falcons!
