Invasive Forest Pest Field Tour - Limerick Forest

Please join us to learn about invasive forest pests and disease that threaten Ontario's forests. During this in-person tour we will walk you through the biology, signs and symptoms and monitoring for forest pests such as emerald ash borer, hemlock woolly adelgid, and Lymantria dispar (Ldd) moth. We will also highlight newly emerging invaders like oak wilt, Asian long horned beetle and beech leaf disease, how to make an early detection and how to report sightings.

This event is geared towards woodlot owners, community stewardship groups, forest industry workers, arborists or anyone else interested in learning more about invasive pests and pathogens that could impact our trees. We will take a small deep dive into each species, with an brief overview of the biology and life cycle, identification, the signs and symptoms your trees will exihibit and monitoring/surveying tools. We will talk about the importance of making early detections and go over how to report sightings of invasive species.

We hope you will walk away with a better understanding of forest invasives and how to identify them, where to report sightings and where to look for more information.
