We are so proud of our U11 Magic Elite team who came out on top as the CCL League CHAMPIONS!!
Coach Mark Verbeek shares a little about their season, “After a 3-2-1 record in the fall, we ended the spring season with a 3-1 record. Of course winning is not the most important thing at this age but it does show the progress we made as a team. I think we were able to create an environment where the boys had fun but were also looking to come to practice and work hard and improve every day. This group is showing signs of what FC Richmond teams are all about: having fun, working hard, fighting for each other and trying to play good soccer.
After playing very well in the final tournament in Roanoke and now finding out we won the CCL, it has been the perfect ending to a great season. The boys, and their parents, deserve it. It has been a great group to work with and I look forward to watching them progress through this club!”

CCL United Team Travel Abroad |

It was great to see several FC Richmond players travel abroad to play with CCL United teams this summer! Congrats to Javier Catedral, Evan Gaines, Fischer Daniel, and Edwin Villatoro for being selected to play in the Gothia Cup in Sweden! Javier shared what the experience meant to him saying, “It was a great experience soccer wise, we found success in all our games except one. After the games we got to talk to the other teams and learn about where they were from. Prior to the tournament, we scrimmaged a team in Denmark and then enjoyed pizza with them and learned about everyday Danish life. This really set in the magnitude of the experience. It was quite the experience to be immersed into the Swedish culture, but the fact that almost everyone there spoke English made it much easier.”
Jaden Jenkins, while not with a CCL United team, also played in the Gothia Cup. His team won their group and made it to the A Playoffs where they lost in the round of 32.
Another group of FCR members, including Alli Gregori, Grace Crocco, Carson Machut and Coach Mac Phillips, were selected to represent the CCL United in Denmark at the Vildbjerg Cup. The boys team came in 2nd place while the girls won in the final and came home champions! Congratulations to all!

You’ve probably heard the names of this dynamic duo due to their success within FC Richmond and beyond! Ethan Nguyen and Parker Sloan started with the club ten years ago in the PDP program and have most recently played for the U18/19 Magic Elite team. While they attended different high schools and will be moving on to different universities, these teammates and friends of nine years continue to succeed in soccer. Both Parker and Ethan have won three CCL titles. Both were named 2022 High School Regional Players of the Year, First Team All Metro, and First Team All State. They played on CCL United Teams abroad and won the Target US Cup. Additionally, they’ve made it to four State Cup finals, played on ODP teams together and attended US training camps. They’ve traveled to Maryland, North Carolina, Kansas, Florida, Minnesota, Arizona, and Spain to complete in various tournaments. Parker describes the pair’s on the field connection by saying, “All I have to say is “E” and Ethan finds me…in traffic, with seconds left, no matter what!”
Ethan will attend James Madison University in the fall and Parker will leave for the University of Virginia. He will also be playing on the UVA men’s soccer team. We will miss watching Ethan and Parker play for FCR but look forward to their continued success!

Fall sports season has officially arrived, and now is the time to start planning for sports physicals. Most schools and youth athletic leagues require a pre-participation physical evaluation to ensure that each child is healthy enough to participate safely in their chosen sport.
All Patient First Medical Centers are now offering sports physicals on a walk-in basis from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., every day.
