City Operations
City Council meets in person on September 13. The meetings will also continue to be streamed live at 7:30pm and can also be accessed on the City’s YouTube channel. The agenda can be found on the City's website. You are also welcome to watch the Council Committee of the Whole meeting that will begin at 6:30pm and then proceed directly into the City Council meeting. Please use the same link noted above. Blood Drive at Community Center
The next Blood Drive is September 17 from 9am to 3pm at the Cleveland Heights Community Center (40 Severance Circle).Visit their website to register or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
 
This Week at Cain Park
The Tri-C JazzFest takes place this weekend at Cain Park: September 11 at 3:30pm and September 12 at 2pm. A separate ticket needs to be purchased for each date. Black Squirrel Winds perform a free concert on September 14 at 8pm and Soul Asylum brings back the 90s with Local H on September 16 at 8pm. Tickets are available at the Cain Park Ticket Office. Vote on September 14
Cleveland Heights voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, September 14 to vote for one of three active candidates on the primary ballot: Barbara Danforth, Melody Joy Hart, and Kahlil Seren. The top two primary-election vote getters will move on to the November 2 general election ballot where Cleveland Heights voters will elect a mayor. Drive-Through Mobile Pantry at First Baptist Church
September 11
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank will provide produce and dairy on Saturday, September 11 at First Baptist Church (3630 Fairmount Blvd.) Distribution will be a drive-through only event from 10am to 12 noon. Those interested are asked to bring a valid ID and to have their car trunk space cleaned out in advance. Rain or shine.
 
FutureHeights Mini-Grant Deadline September 15
The deadline to apply for a mini-grant of up to $1000 to make your dream neighborhood project become a reality is September 15. Mini-grants are available to Cleveland Heights and University Heights-based projects. Past funded projects include pollinator gardens, block parties, neighborhood trash pick-up, Little Free Library installations, and more. Heights Music Hop Returns for One Night Only
Featuring 12 bands and three outdoor stages, the re-imagined Heights Music Hop returns on September 18 beginning at 5pm for an evening of music, dining, and community on Lee Road. Keeping social distancing at the forefront, stages will be in the mini park, the Meadowbrook vacant space, and near Kensington & Lee. Pekar Comic Book Fest Returns September 18
Pekar Park in Coventry Village hosts the Pekar Comic Book Fest from 1 to 5pm on September 18 followed by a free screening of Big Hero 6 in PEACE Park. A full slate of fun activities for all ages is planned including an artist and vendor market; free takeaway crafts from Heights Libraries; sidewalk chalk art competition; “Comix Today,” a panel discussion with artists, writers, and editors; bounce house in PEACE Park, and so much more.
 
Noble Gardeners’ Market Continues on Saturdays
The Noble Gardeners’ Market continues every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon at the Noble-Roanoke Park until September 25. All the produce sold is grown in backyards or community gardens. You can also admire the beautiful new mural that looks over the Park one block north of Monticello. Please bring small bills and lots of coins. Parking is free at street meters.
