Our small group gatherings for fun and fellowship.

Watch for your invitation this Fall, when new Circles are formed.

From Adrienne Cohen

Our fellowship circle met on May 6th at the home of Kathy and Larry Smith. We were treated to a tour of their garden and enjoyed sightings of several birds that came to visit while we were there. A very enjoyable time was had by all.

From Barb Hendry

Sandra, Neil, Cynthia, Rebecca, Paul, Barb, and Mike met on May 13 at Jane and Greg’s house for a brown bag lunch. We had a lively discussion of our answers to the UU “hopes and dreams” questions. Then four people told us about things they collect or collected (tiles, fossils, refrigerator magnets, and old beer cans!) and the rest told heartwarming stories of kindness from strangers. We have had a delightful time in this Fellowship Circle, sharing much laughter, camaraderie, and the pleasure of getting to know one another better. Thanks to Dee for this great idea!

From Martha Hughes

The last meeting of our Fellowship Circle was also the biggest. Those attending were the Thompsons (Abby, John, Amelia, and Mason); Janice Cawthorn; Martha Hughes; Teresa Winn; and special guests Shari Barr, Inge Spencer, and Poppy, the dog. Hostess Alicia Barnes provided watermelon, seemingly limitless avocados, and a spectacular setting on a pond, which Mason and Amelia particularly enjoyed because of the fishing. We did discuss our hopes and dreams for the future of UUFS, but mostly we ate and talked. Overall, it was a wonderful farewell to a wonderful group. I am personally very grateful to everybody who participated, and especially to Alicia for her gracious hospitality.

From Dee Liston

Our fellowship circle met at the Botanic Gardens at Georgia Southern University for a picnic and fellowship on April 25. Dee, Relinda, Leon, Inge, Tanya, Michele, Teri, Brenda and Jessica met and shared lively conversation catching up on our lives and hopes and dreams for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Statesboro.

The Herb Garden has been replenished!

Everyone is encouraged to stop by the herb garden (inside playground near parking lot) and pinch off what you need for cooking or just to smell. Your using the herbs will encourage growth. Choose from lavender, thyme, oregano, fennel and more. Try a leaf of stevia - it really is sweet!

Fridays 9:00 to 10:30 am

February 25 – June 2, 2023

MindBody Center at UUFS

This series of eight classes is designed to deepen our inquiry into the Buddha’s teachings on waking up. Through dharma lecture, discussion, and practice, each session elucidates a section of the mala that corresponds with the Daily Recitation at Anattasati Magga (ASM) sangha in Asheville, NC.

Visit the ASM website to download a free copy of the Daily Recitation:

or to purchase a mala with beads corresponding to the teachings:

Each class begins with reading aloud the Daily Recitation, followed by 25 minutes of silent meditation. After a brief break, the teachings are offered every other Friday, starting Feb. 25, as follows:

Class 1: The Three Treasures

Class 2: The Four Noble Truths

Class 3: The Three Characteristics of Existence

Class 4: The Heart Sutra (concise)

Class 5: The Eight-Fold Path

Class 6: The Three Pure and the Ten Great Precepts

Class 7: The Paramitas

Class 8: An Auspicious Day
