iReady Fall

Benchmark Reports

At Parent Teacher Conferences this week you will receive your child's iReady Family Report.

Students in Kindergarten-8th grade took the iReady online during the first weeks of school.

iReady is not a standardized test: it is a progress monitoring system showing your child's status and growth within specific domains in reading and math.

Growth Report: think of the information you get from your child's pediatrician - your child is so many inches tall, putting them in a range of growth. If your child is approaching or at a specific growth target, the doctor says "keep doing what you are doing." If your child is below or above a range, the doctors says "we need to watch this in the upcoming months" or, if it is a large discrepancy or has persisted over time, she might say "we need to intervene to cause growth."  We are doing the same! If a child is below a certain range, your child's teacher will tell you how we are watching or intervening and what you can do at home to support your child's growth. If your child is above a certain range, the conversation is the same - typical growth should be occurring in all students between now and the next assessment in January.

Where "should" my child be? Your child should be where s/he is! And then grow during the year.  Typically, in the fall, your child is approaching or at their current grade level.  The key is the relationship between where they are now and where they will be in January when they take the next assessment. Key questions we ask: where are they now? are they growing? are the growing at the necessary pace to be successful at their grade level (and in the future), what do we need to do to promote and support typical growth?

Below is a sample Family Report. Your child's will look very similar. Please take a moment to review your child's report and, if you have any questions about their growth, please reach out to your child's teacher!

Looking forward to seeing everyone for Parent Teacher Conferences next week and a superior year of growth in all our students!
